Ok, perhaps "Rednecks" is too harsh. I'll consider them the "village idiots". Here's what happened....

My friend, a special agent in the FBI, and I were returning from a pistol competition last Sunday, in my yellow WRX. While driving through a small town, we passed a bunch of (here's the PC disclaimer)
"socially-disadvantaged" youngsters sitting on their porch.

One of them (for reasons unknown) yelled "***", as we drove by. Perhaps the color of my car displeased them, I don't know.

Their commentary bothered me, to the point where I asked my buddy if we could turn around. I thought a little run-in with the law might educate them (nevermind the 6 handguns and 1000 rounds of ammunition we were carrying). Actually, I thought a severe ass-kicking would learn them even better.

I was surprised when my friend consented to paying them a visit. This was after 8-10 miles, however, and I didn't want to waste my time driving back to the redneck haven.

Next time, I'll stop ASAP and see why they feel the need to yell. Anyone else experience social commentary??

a.) rev my new exhaust and blow the doors off their beat up pick-up
b.) Am driving my 76' Chevy V8 Dual Quad 350 Truck and I can spin the wheels right out of the rims. Sure it's not much classier then those hoodlums, but It's kinda fun to be white trash for a few and be able to laugh about it later.

if you ever feel like going back...go, but don't bring your friend and don't bring a gun. if you want to be a bad a$$ try doing it without a gun in your car. it was a smart thing you didn't stop when you did. I don't know what it's like where you live, but I grew up in a hard "hood" so I know how tempting it can be to stop and shot them in the head. on another note, I have nothing against guns. I go to the range on a weekly basis and I am a member of the NRA.

I don't think it was JUST the color. You didn't have a big pickup with big bad tires and a winch on the front to pull you out of the mud.

You did the right thing by not going back. You are bigger than that! If you were to go back and say or do anything you would be bringing yourself to their level. I'm sure it's not the first time some jerk has said something not nice to you and I'm sure it won't be the last. Redneck or otherwise people can say some bad stuff. Your car kicks ass, and as long as you like it that is all that matters. When someone insults you or your car just let if roll off...it's really their problem and it only becomes yours if you let it.

I spent 2 years in Vermont on assignment during my first job out of school. I have to say I'm REALLY glad I got out of there.

One time I drove through a little city in Nebraska and there were "rednecks" everywhere. They were tootin around in their trucks and muscle cars. Every red light that I was at someone was peeling out next to me. However, being the only import there, people just stared at my car (lol probably their first time seeing an Impreza).

Shoulda slammed on your brakes and have your friend pull the Chris Rock routine. You see the gun(don't point it at them though, that could get you in trouble, but no harm in showing it), you see the badge, now is there anything else you'd like to say to my face? Course, nothing wrong with simply driving on and ignoring them either. I defidently wouldn't have gone back, it's got to be a spur of the moment type of thing.

they arent worth the waste of gas and wear on brake pads for stopping.

I live pretty far in the sicks. When I first moved here I never saw so many pickup trucks, heard so much country music, or so much beer, and tobacco being consumed as I have anyplace else. Those people just don't like change. Same way around here. They're just trying to show their peers that they are cool. I get that a lot around here, I also get a lot of people complimenting me. sometimes northern hicks can be worse than southern hicks.

Southern hicks are usually pretty lethargic and slow due to heat and humidity, while northern hicks like to move fast to keep warm.

You are probably luckily you didn't stop, there were probably 8 or 9 families inside the house all of which were drunk. Best bet even when carrying a piece is just to laugh it off, you know your car is awesome and they are below you anyway.
