I apologize in advance for this post. I have been depressed all day and posting this is therapy for me.

This weekend I was at the NE Div autox in DC and my wife and daughter suprised me by coming to watch. It added to an already great weekend.

This morning I learnt that a guy I've met a few times at work took his wife and daughter to watch him at a Watkins Glen PCA track event over the weekend and he was killed. All I know is that he lost control of his Boxster S entering turn 6 (I think) at something called The Boot. He hit the barriers and was pronounced DOA at the hospital.

Although I only knew him a little, it was hard news for me.

Anyway, there it is. Thanks for 'listening'.

Andy.

Andy,

Sorry to hear that. I was at the NEDiv also, and it's sad to think of someone going out to have a great weekend with their cars like we all did and losing his life instead. It's all that much worse that his family was there.

No fair...

Andy, this is always hard. In my 25 years of competing and working rallys and races, this has happened more than once to friends of mine. Even today, my wife and I still tend to tell people we are back from a performance rally rather than tell them we are going. As with any tragedy, the pain eases with time. Just try to feel a little better knowing that Eric died doing something he enjoyed.

wow that is horrible. Just make sure you are enjoying life and appreciating the people in your life. As long as you are happy with how you live your life and what you are doing that is all that matters.
At least he died doing something that he loved. I feel very bad for his family that have to cope with his loss and for having witnessed it.
