The smaller ones for competing.

Prodrive recommends a 18x8 wheel with a 225/40-18 tire for a good street track combo...if that helps.

18's for the street set the car off right. However on a track, especially autox, a smaller wheel is better.

I guess it all boils down to what he is going to use the car for because track time is different then AutoX is different then street.

That being said I was brought up being told that the only reason to go to a larger diameter tire is fit a BBK. Sense most BBK's fit under 17's that would be the best trade off between the two.

17's are best performance size, and 18's or 19's for street bling bling :D

18s may be a viable choice for autox if your most favorable width is only available in that diameter. Otherwise, the (likely) lower weight of a 17 is the way to go.

Since you're going to be using one set for street and autox/track, you aren't looking to be nationally competitive, and you probably won't be at the top of your region--so go with what you like and let the performance chips fall where they may; you'll be fine on either.

You can get a tire that is both competitve nationally and streetable.

That is what we find in the STX class with the Kumho, Hankooks, Azenis etc.

17 is much better for performance in most every way. Weight, Diameter and so on.

Also 17's are cheaper.

More tires to choose from in 17.

No Brainer here. Go 17

I would recommend 17's for track use

They are also hoping you will buy 18" rims from them.

yeah. i was thinking 17 was better for the weight diameter and initial takeoff..
18 just look better visually.
