I'm about to get rid of my stock RE92's and move up from the 205 width to 225 in a max performance summer tire. I was wondering how does a max performance summer tire compare to the RE92 in the wet

.....d00d....ya GOT to be KIDDING........ANYTHING is better than the re-92's.....dunkin donuts are better.

There are LOTS of great wet, summer tires.......the Falken 451's are great....and, so far....the Hankook Z212's that I just put on are great, too....and both easy on the budget ;)

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresults/surveydisplay.jsp?type=HPAS This is how it compares to other high performance all-seasons. Most max. performance summer tires will be a step ahead of any of these tires.

Yep. I just bought some 215/45-17 Pirelli P-Zero Nero M&S tires, and while they're a million times better than any RE92, they're still an a/s tire. They're not as good in dry or wet grip as my old 205/55-16 Dunlop SP9000 (a max. performance tire).

Too bad the 9000 was discontinued.... when it comes to wet performance, they were incredible.

Yeap, they came with my '02 WRX and couldn't wait for them to wear out. They suck in every possible scenario, including wet.

A nice summer tire replacement would be the Kumho Ecsta MX in 225 width. Better dry grip, better wet grip, wider but fit the stock WRX wheels fine, and reasonably priced.
