View Full Version : Ruges Subaru in Rhinebeck, NY
kevinsUBARU 08-14-2001, 06:30 PM The buying experience was real nice for a first time buyer, and the car was in imaculate shape (95 Impreza L 2.2L AWD with 44K). However, the problems I reported with it were just "band-aided" (if that is even a word) and I was stuck with $700 in repairs from a siezed waterpump in March of '01 and another $450 on remanufactured brake calipers in July of '01. The brakes were screwy from day one, and they just turned the rotors...seemed fine, but then when I tried to change the pads myself, the damn caliper slides were frozen, which is why the brakes felt funny in the first time (uneven pad wear, spongy pedal, rotor warpage..I had all of the symptoms) but now we are as good as new. The sales guy I talked to about the WRX in January was a royal ass hole, and the other sales people have one foot in the grave. They can not offer the used car inventory of which Colonial Subaru in Kingston, NY can offer. The dealerships are on different sides of the Hudson River, but only 5 miles away from each other. Service sucks...takes forever for a 30 minute oil change...more like 3 hours. Wait around long enough by the front desk and they always give me a free one. They just cant handle the business they have now.
Any questions, shoot me a email:)

YaZahX 01-22-2003, 11:43 PM THEY SUCK!
i went to buy a 2.5RS from them, i called them and told them i would be driving up 2 hrs with my father to look at it. well, the day came that i was going to go up, i start to leave, and my dad said to call them to make sure tehy dont leave or snything. i told them i was on my way up and that i was going to b looking at the 2.5RS they had. well hes like 'oh, its sold, we sold it last night'
i was about to kill him from 2 hrs away i was so heated. they didnt call OR email me that they sold the car. i was like 'o so u dont call to tell me or email me when i take half a day' so he (tim smith) says 'wel ill call you if we get another one in' i was like 'thats quite alright thanks' and hung up...
the fact that they were rather unhelpful from the start and that i know more about the RS than they do is rather sad. i DO NOT sudgest them to anyone. (the car was overpriced but i was going to pay the car in cash because i did have the money for it...)

John- still looking for an RS.
timatruges 11-02-2006, 12:29 PM Hello John,
I know it has been a while, but I just happen to come across your comment, in reference to Ruge's, and specifically me, about your "attempted purchase" of the 2.5RS.
What you had failed to mention was the fact that you had been calling almost daily "checking" on the car to make sure it was still available and were given the chance to put a deposit on it, which you did not want to do.
What I told you to do was call me specifically to make sure the car was here and available before you came all the way up, since you did not want to do a deposit over the phone.
What you did was call before the sales department opened and spoke to someone in service. To the best of their knowledge, the car was still available. It had been sold late the previous evening. The only person who would have known at that point was the salesperson who sold the car.
It was the luck of the draw. You know what they say, John, "you snooze, you lose".
But, hey, you take care and I hope it all worked out and you found yourself a nice RS.
I am still here at Ruge's, selling Subarus. I guess I don't "suck" (as you say), too bad. Lots of happy customers out there and customer service scores at 100% since I started.
Must be doing something right??
