OK I KNOW I KNOW there is a sticky at the top for headunit FAQS!!!!!!

Here is my question..

I have an 04' WRX

I just bought a new Sony Head Unit, Metra Universal DIN and the wiring harness.. But this forum, the guy at Best Buy and another stereo shop cant answer me this question...

HOW the hell do I mount the stereo???? I know how to install the din (well kinda) but where does teh stereo screw into??? My new Sony doesnt have any typ of 90 degree bend mounting to use the exsisting bolts that the stock one uses.... so what do I attach the stereo's pocket to???

Thanks for the help and I am sorry if teh answer is in front of me but I just missed it..

You dont need the Universal DIN at all. You pull out the stock stereo, unscrew the brackets on either side of it, and attach those to your sony, then mount it in.

Very simple.

Wow shad, you've been knocking back a few or something :p

Ya, there are brackets you pull out from the din area and they just screw on to the sides of the radio. Real straight forward once you pull your dash apart.

take off the brackets and put your sony on top, if its a metra pocket put it on bottom, very simple, oh yea and best buy sucks, you would be better off asking a monkey for advice.

Haha, I went to BestBuy yesterday to buy a radio. I asked the dude to get me a Subaru harness.

After 10 minutes he comes back and tells me that he's sorry, but the radio I want to buy (standard DIN form factor) won't fit in my car. I say, "pack it up bro, I'll still take it."

So I get home with my new radio and, as you can guess, it fits just fine.
