I recently had some repainting done to my front bumper (03 WRX). After I got the vehicle back, I needed to use the fog lights because there was some dense fog while going up a mountain road. I turned them on and noticed that something was not quite right. They were producing huge columns of light, lighting up the road 50 feet down, and probably going right into someone's mirror in front of me.
I took the lights off to see what was wrong and sure enough, the body shop had retardedly switched the right & left fogs. Because they only have 3 screws to mount each light, they were rotated 90°. Now, instead of producing a fan of light immediately in front of the car, they were blinding people 3 cars down.
The problem is easy enough to fix. Simply unscrew, unplug, and switch the lights. Or, just make sure your mechanic knows the the "R" and "L" on the back of the fog lights don't necessarily refer to his right and left, respectively ;)
Hope this post helps someone out.
