View Full Version : Subaru stores in Anchorage? Peterk 08-17-2005, 12:39 AM Hey you guys around Anchorage, what places are there around that has subaru import accessories, and such like exhausts, and wheres the best places to get them put on at? AK_2002_WRX 08-17-2005, 03:20 AM none in town. your best bet is finding some online vendors and installing it yourself. if you need help, lots of members would be willing to help you, or do it for you, as long as you pay em, provide beer, dinner, etc. some good sites to start off at are www.gruppe-s.com www.mauromotorsports.com www.oakos.com Spitfyre02 08-17-2005, 05:16 AM Hales is right in Anchorage and they are a HKS pro dealer. Got my gigantor exhaust from them. SparkysJDMSpeedWagon 08-17-2005, 05:30 AM Dude, exhaust (in general) is insanely easy, especially cat-backs and downpipes. Just do it yourself one night...like 3-4hrs if its your first time, only an hour or two with a knowlegable friend. Peterk 08-17-2005, 07:15 PM well, I'm thinking with these gas prices I could probably get away with buying a 2006 2.5i impreza and putting an aftermarket spoiler on it and catback, maybe a cold air. Thats really all I'd want to do and I was wondering where in Anchorage or Valley has those things, or installs them. The non turbo impreza's are tough to find aftermarket parts for, especially exhausts, practically all websites say they're made for wrx. It will not be until next spring/summer until I buy one but I like to plan ahead (to pass the time) ;) Maybe when the time comes and I buy it, one of you could hang out for a day and help me find the right parts? :) Getagrip 08-17-2005, 07:48 PM You may be waiting a while on a 06 application for exhast on a N/A engine. Subaru changed the configuration of the exhaust on the front end of the car of all the 06 N/A engines I've seen so far. Peterk 08-17-2005, 09:38 PM Well, I can wait on that I suppose once the time comes. AKLGT 08-17-2005, 11:00 PM that sucks. trust me, we know what it's like to not have much a/m support on our cars (referring to our vibes) Peterk 08-18-2005, 02:26 AM Any places to find a/m parts or/and install them in Anchorage? I'll probably ask one of you guys to help me but I'd just like to know for reference. How easy would it be to install a a/m spoiler on the back of say a RS? What about a hood scoop, is it possible to install on of those without a new hood? (and actually look good) ;) zachary.berrier 08-18-2005, 03:17 AM you get an 02/03 black rs ill trade you my wx hood with scoop:p 00Maddog 08-18-2005, 03:33 AM rs hoods are soo heavy, lift one before you swap. zachary.berrier 08-18-2005, 03:49 AM i know was just kiddin, hey i know you work at the dealership, subaru doesnt make any sort of reverse scoop do they. i need to stop by tommorow when i got my car from being shipped from georgia they had a fender liner in my trunk and the other one funked out. 00Maddog 08-18-2005, 03:57 AM i would like to see the expression on the parts guys face when you ask for a reverse scoop.   I'll keep an eye out for your car tomorrow at work. Peterk 08-18-2005, 02:55 PM 2006 impreza 2.5i is supposed to get new aluminum hood. For a/m exhausts, would it matter much if you put a, say catback that a website says is for wrx, on a rs? Peterk 08-19-2005, 02:25 PM I have yet to read any reviews from people that have bought the bosal subaru muffler that dealers sell, how does that fair compared to other mufflers? Peterk 08-21-2005, 12:56 AM Anyone tried that Bosal SPT muffler that the dealers sell? Also, how hard would it be exactly to put a STI style spoiler like a V5 and put it on a RS? Are there shops in Anchorage or anything that would paint it and install it? Or would there be any other way? AK_2002_WRX 08-21-2005, 02:08 AM yeah, some of the members have that exhaust. i think WesFSTGDB has one. find a vendor that sells the wing you like and get it from them. i don't know any shops off the top of my head, but there are quite a few shops that do a great job on painting and installation. or if the trunks are the same as an 04-05, and depending on the color u get, you could trade trunks with someone that has an STi and doesnt want the wing anymore... Peterk 08-21-2005, 02:43 AM Haha and the chances of that happening in the same color are probably slim with the few sti's in Alaska... ;) But thanks for the info I'm gonna have to get your help when the time comes down to doing it. If anyone has that muffler and could say anything (good or bad) about it that would be great, I dont want to have a stock one because I read it peels after a while, plus it doesnt sound/look as cool. 00Maddog 08-21-2005, 03:06 AM buy a psm one, I know a guy with a sti wing considering buying a rs trunk right now. Peterk 08-21-2005, 04:14 AM psm?? whats that? anyways I havent bought the car yet I'm gonna wait until 2006's come out, then after winter gets over, but I'm just looking into my options. SparkysJDMSpeedWagon 08-21-2005, 05:17 AM PSM=Platinum Silver Metallic Peterk 08-21-2005, 06:11 PM Gotcha. Paint protection is probably a good thing to have in Alaska I'm thinking. What do you guys recommend? Anyone have any experience with rockblocker? Or does that seem a little much? |
