Any new information that could back up this sketchs?
The 06' Concept and the 07' Concept looks completely different. Can we be hopeful that this is the new 07 car? If so im going to save my money :D
Halforc 08-17-2005, 08:20 PM These are from before the 06 facelift was revealed.
/cry NOooooooo we have to put up with this for another TWO YEARS :)

Superbirdy 08-17-2005, 08:24 PM why would it change that fast
maybe in 2008 but not a year after it comes out
22wannabe 08-17-2005, 08:25 PM Not sure about the top two, however the bottom car is a concept car for the WRC 4 PS2 game. It looks like the same artist did the other two. If you notice the top photo has two hood vents. The front vent is used for the WRC versions intercooler and the rear scoop is used only to resemble the road car.
Siper2 08-18-2005, 08:38 AM Impreza full redesign in 2002 (MY2001 overseas).
2003, some minor changes, including different color on the Momo steering wheel centercap.
2004, new front end, taillights, seats, rear swaybar brackets, and other things.
2005, new dashboard, better materials, new steering wheels across most models.
2006, front end changed again, along with taillights, etc.

Bet on it. ;)
SkyRealms 08-18-2005, 10:48 AM the top two were the initial design sketches for the '06.
Hazdaz 08-18-2005, 11:11 PM Like SIPER mentioned, I would be surprised if there isn't a complete redesign in '07 - going more than 5 years between redesigns for a Japanese car is kind of rare - they know well enough to keep their models fresh (unlike the US car makers who will milk every last penny out of their aging cars)
While that 1st sketch might very well be just a sketch of the current car, I would be willing to get that it is also an indication of what the redesign (whenever that comes) really looks like. I actually really like the car in the sketch... and even the one from the PS2 game (even though the other pic that I have seen in other threads does looks lots better)

The 2nd and 3rd pictures were drawn by a Subaru designer.. for a sucky game. Don't get confused.
The other sketch is of the current car..

AVANTI R5 08-19-2005, 09:54 AM Why is it so hard for people to believe a new car(frame+chassis+engine) is coming in 07,maybe available next summer witha new name too, built in this country, sharing the new frame with the new legacy and Tribecca. This car is old,it has only been freshened up over the past few years. It was Saab's crying and screaming that got the nice updates in the 05 models to present. Also the 04 front STI was McClaren (spelling) designed, now it is time to put Zappatini(spelling, whoever) designs into practice.I think this frame is still the same one from the demise of the Loyale,if not at least 94 or 95,pretty old any way you look at it.

You may SEE a new Impreza replacement in 2007 but it will be a 2008 model. The sheetmetal and other changes they made to the MY06 car may seem small and insignificant but manufacturing wise are expensive and will have to be amortized over two model years. So just settle in and wait like the rest of us
neuspeed 08-19-2005, 12:21 PM Impreza full redesign in 2002 (MY2001 overseas).
2003, some minor changes,
2004, new front end, taillights, seats, rear swaybar brackets, and other things including different color on the Momo steering wheel centercap, thinner rear sway bar on sedan, also new struts
2005, new dashboard, better materials, new steering wheels across most models.
2006, front end changed again, along with taillights, etc.
Bet on it. ;)
Fixed that for you :)

Because there is no talk of a new engine being developed other than the diesel power-plant.
This car is old,it has only been freshened up over the past few years. It was Saab's crying and screaming that got the nice updates in the 05 models to present. It's 6 years old.. which is middle aged for most auto platforms.. including for a subaru platform.
Also the 04 front STI was McClaren (spelling) designed, now it is time to put Zappatini(spelling, whoever) designs into practice.Peter Stevens designed the bastardized nose on the '04/'05.. not anyone at McLaren. No doubt, the next iteration of the Impreza will have the family styling from bow to stern, but that doesn't mean it's coming next year.
I think this frame is still the same one from the demise of the Loyale,if not at least 94 or 95,pretty old any way you look at it.The 'GC' chassis is completely separate from the 'GD' chassis. Two separate platforms. The GC chassis lasted from '93 to 2001 in the US.

1.08 available in 4th quarter 07 will have different type of engine then present, horse power wise and other tweaks.
2I said it was old,and it was because of Saab that the 05 chages were made.
3 Stevens did not do the 04 STI front end,it was who I said it was!
4.I did not say they were the same. Also I said I THINK when mentioning the years, anyway the platform is old and outdated.
AVANTI R5 08-20-2005, 06:15 AM OOHH Edmunds says new 08 in fall of 07,it has to be the truth.Just like they new the 04
STI was going to a 2.5 liter and 300 horse.
You never should underestimate them,if sales are bad on the 06,they could bring a new car to market alot sooner then 08.

1. define engine, because I believe everyone gets the idea you're talking about a new block.
2. true, the subaru engineer loved the saab's approach to improving the suspension with the utilizing of aluminum parts
3. wrong, google "peter stevens" and subaru. Peter Stevens DID design the 04 and 05 Impreza front. McClaren is a car company. It did not design the Impreza. Your confusion comes from the fact Peter Steves also helped in the design of the McClaren F1 car.
4. still don't get what you're saying
EDIT: Here's the proof about Peter Stevens from Subaru's own website:
http://subaru-global.com/lineup/impreza/talk_impreza/02.html
Also, 07 summer from the edmunds report means 2 years of the Zappa design, what everyone is surmising it to be. Also, back in 2003, Edmunds pit the Euro-spec Lancer Evolution against the 2002 WRX to see how the Lancer Evolution would do as they knew the Lan Evo would be coming to the US. They predicted Subaru would come back with a 2.0 liter 265hp STi (like the Euro-spec STi of the time). They were wrong.
STI2005 08-20-2005, 09:53 AM It's an old pics.. 2 years old...
AVANTI R5 08-21-2005, 06:32 AM Who designed the STI STI STI
front end in 04 04 04. NOT Stevens,just in case I will say STI 04 again ,
AVANTI R5 08-21-2005, 04:08 PM Your right,I am wrong it was Stevens,he designed the McLaren formula 1 super car too!!I will go crawl in a hole now:D bye
Wichard20 08-21-2005, 06:34 PM it looks like its smileying

harrydog 08-22-2005, 08:09 AM My bet is a redesign sometime in 2007, but as others have said, it will be called a 2008. Remember, the 2002 WRX arrived here in March of 2001.
Six years is NOT "middle age" for most Japanese platforms. It's end of cycle.
