thanks for taking the time to read this ...

alright, i have quality aftermarket headlight bulbs i bought a long time ago and they've been working fine for a great amount of time. but, it wasn't untill about two weeks ago that my left headlight went out! i thought the bulb just went out and i'd have to buy a new one so i just put it off 'till i saved the money to do so. but, just tonight after starting my car (which actually took awhile to start) the other headlight went out as soon as i flipped the switch to turn it on! the foglights still work though.

... also, i've noticed that my battery seems to be dying. i can BARLEY start my car sometimes when i turn the interior light on for even just a second and all my interior lights dim dramaticly when i start up my car also. there has to be a battery problem at hand. i checked it out and the battery is connected well. and, i'm not running a sub-woofer or any power sapping device.

do i need a new battery? did my headlights blow out 'cause of a lack of power to them or maybe to high of a sudden surge or will they come back after i buy a new battery? any help at all is welcomed! thanks so much!

You likely have two separate problems. If the headlamps were old, they probably burned out for that reason and only need to be replaced.

You could also have a battery problem. How old is the battery? I've seen cheap batteries die after only a year or two. Quality batteries usually don't last much over five years. Maybe you are due for a new one.

Switching on the interior lights should have no effect on a good battery. They don't draw enough power to keep it from starting the car.

A loose, slipping alternator belt or a bad alternator could keep the battery from charging. Make sure the connections to the battery and alternator are clean and tight.

Good luck. :)
