The story is here :http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=829439

My fuel and temp gauges are not working..the needles do not move at all (no, I wasnt putting ricer glos in, dont belive me then see above  )

Subaru parts has a fuel/temp meter assembly listed here (http://www.subaruparts.com/diag/?model=5A&year=2002&style=WRX&body=&scn=8&category=850-1)
My question is, has anyone else had to replace this assembly? Would it fix the fact my fuel and temp gauges do not work? It looks as though its the complete assembly motors and all. Anyone else have theirs break and replace it succsefully?

I know the motors are sensitive, its just odd that I could break them by barely moving a needle! Has anyone replaced this part before, or am I doomed to buy a whole new cluster?? Thanks :)

The individual gauges can be replaced in the cluster without much difficulty. I've done it several times while working on my cluster. I'll try to explain...

Pull cluster
Remove clear bezel
Remove black slanted bezel skirt/spacer
Remove flat gray/black bezel over gauges
Remove white plastic cover from back of cluster

Here's the more difficult part. Looking at the circuit board on the back of the cluster you'll be able to locate the center of each gauge as a silver metal circle. Beside each "circle" you'll find a couple of metal tabs that are bent over so they "hold onto" the circuit board. You need to carefully lift and straighten these tabs for the gauges you're replacing. Once you've done this just push the "circle" lightly with the tip of a screwdriver and the gauge will slide right out of the cluster. Take your time and you won't have any problems. Besides, you've already borked the gauges, right?

Good luck.
