We just received the first Bosal dual tip "reduced dB" FULL three inch catback. The exhaust has an integrated resonator in the midpipe that significantly reduces sound output at all RPM levels. Full three inch piping for unrestricted flow.

Just installed it on our shop car and the fitment was perfect. The sound is very comparable to the Bosal single tip (SPT exhaust). Real sleeper sound with great improvement in flow.

The catback will mate up to any three inch aftermarket DP without any adaptors. The catback will mate up to the stock system without any leaks as well. We have been running the system now on our shop car for a week now and the system has been perfect.

Nice. Do you have a sound clip? Will this fit a 02 wagon with a factory differential protector? How much to ship to Honolulu, Hawaii 96813?

We will need to work on that. It time we buy a digital sound recorder...

We have had a chance to install a CB on a WRX with the factory diff protector. A call into Bosal came up with the same answer. The best way we can answer it is if the SPT single tip can fit, so can this CB. The routing is exactly the same.

As for shipping to HI, we just checked and it is incredibly expensive. $64 :eek:

The new bosal looks good. Kinda seems like it hangs low. Did u see anyway after installing this that this can be brought closer to the body. Different hangers or something.

bdi - that's our bad. The hangers we used are not the stock ones - they are the 1" longer Kartboy hanger. We left it on there from a previous application. I will change out the hangers to the stock ones and take pics. We just got a digital sound recorder so sound clips will go up soon.

Plus in a week our dB meter better arrive. We'll take some reading at the various distances and rev levels.

is this setup on the sti catted or catless. if catless will it be much louder. what hp gains does bosal claim this is making.

This setup is catted. If a catless setup is involved, the sound output would be louder. Since we haven't tried this setup, we can't comment on how loud it really gets. My gut feel is that on a comparative basis, it will still be much more quieter than most of the catbacks out there with a catless setup.

As for hp gains, Bosal doesn't make any claims on their catbacks. You can expect about 4-6 as is typical with catbacks. For 12-15 whp gains, you have to visit some of the eBay sellers. ;)

subrandon - Sorry about that, Bosal doesn't currently sell just the resonated midpipe.

waktasz - The sound clip is of the reduced dB unit. I think Bosal might have discontinued the standard dual tip in favor of this design. It is more versatile in that it fits both the stock cat and three inch aftermarket downpipes and is very quiet. We just got our dB meter deliver today. We'll give some readings by Monday.

We tested the catback on our stock 05 STi.
78 dB at idle and 85 dB at 3000 RPM.

I was completely shocked so I tested the dB meter on a reference sound emitter that is verified at 94 dB. The meter read 93.2 dB.

The test was taken at 6 feet from the catback outlet.

J-Spec, thanks for the pics and sound clip!! One question though, how does the dual tip fill the cut out in the bumper? You cant really see from the pics. Do you have a shot from straight on from the back? Or you can just commet on it if you dont. Im worryied that this exhaust will look odd with the cut out in the bumper since it is for a single tip exhaust.
