For all imprezas with foglamps, you can simply swap the bulbs for some yellow tinted bulbs.
PIAA Ion Crystals - Very yellow light output, also the most expensive, $25-35 a pair
Narva Golds - Haven't seen them myself, but they're supposed to be pretty yellow and don't cost too much.
Hella Yellowstars - More of a white-yellow output (often called a "selective yellow"), it's white enough to be useful in clear weather and yellow enough to be useful in fog/rain. $6 a bulb i believe. (i have these, mostly because they're cheap and extremely easy to order)
If you have a GC or Bugeye impreza, then you could also get a set of Hella 500 foglamps. They come with either clear or amber lenses. If you want to use yellow bulbs, get the clear ones. If you don't want to buy bulbs, get the amber ones. $75 for the lamp kit, $20 for acrylic clear covers (for protection from flying debris), and $35 for the impreza brackets so you can bolt the lamps right into the OEM locations. The Hella 500s have a much better output than the OEM lamps.
You could go with some yellow film/tint on you headlamps if you want yellow output, but check with the legality of having yellow headlamps first. I know here in california it's illegal to have yellow headlamps, but not yellow auxiliary lamps. :)
Here's mine... I have the yellowstar bulbs in the two foglamps sitting in the stock foglamp locations.

I can help with the RockBlocker when you are ready
dcwrx2 08-22-2005, 03:27 PM Speaking of yellow fog lamp bulbs, where can I get DIY instructions (w/ photos please) on changing 2004 WRX fog lamp bulbs? I heard it involves removing some screws that hold the lamp assembly to the underbody, hood, etc??
Yotsuya 08-22-2005, 04:08 PM YellowStars and 500s were nice on my old RS (albeit with morettes). On the 05, the headlights are much poorer no matter what bulb.

To change foglight bulbs on the 04/05 you can go in from behind and bend back some of the plastic wheel well shielding. It's a tight fit, but I was able to do it. I did it, but I never really use the fog lights, so it was probably a waste of $6.
dcwrx2 08-22-2005, 04:17 PM Thanks, but do you also have any links to the specific steps?
I don't use fog lights too often too, but it will be nice to have a higher contrast in vision when used together with my 8000K HID :)

I'll most likely go with the Narva Golds next or the Osram All-Weather ones due to price. The PIAAs have lasted 2 1/2 years so far.
Halogen based fogs vs HID fogs...

I'll be getting HID fogs and headlights on my RBP 2.5RS in a week or so, :)

The picture below shows a sequence of shots taken, starting from a high eye-level (standing) to a lower (under the horizontal line of the lens center). Note how the aux light seems brighter from a lower vantage point.

aznguyjac 08-24-2005, 05:20 AM i got a question
i currently driving a 05RS, n installed JDM housing n HID
as most/all/none, of u know,
on the 04-05 impreza, the DRL is actually on low beam bulb,
n since i have hid for my low beam now,
i changed the DRL over to high beam section,
i wonder if its effective to use yellow bulb (say PIAA Ion yellow) on high beam for DRL?
dcwrx2 08-24-2005, 01:05 PM Wait... DRL on high beam?! So your highbeam will be always on?!
Subaru of Plano 08-24-2005, 09:29 PM We are a fan of our GT Yellow protective covers
http://www.pcpcdallas.com/images/film/sti-w-YH1.jpg
Have used Hella yellowstars (bulbs) in a set of Hella 500's and they were pretty yellow - great in the snow!
satrya 08-25-2005, 12:28 AM ..i wonder if its effective to use yellow bulb (say PIAA Ion yellow) on high beam for DRL?
Compared to regular bulb on high beams for DRL, yellow bulb certainly doesn't make inclement weather visibility worse. Then again, in inclement weather, high beam isn't exactly something you'd want to use.
Given that DRL is only relevant during daylight under fair weather conditions, I don't see how changing the regular halogen bulbs to yellow on the high beam unit will make things worse. Considering the price of PIAA bulbs, it may not be worth doing imho.
my 2 cents
EMPIKING66 08-25-2005, 03:09 AM i have a 00 RS coupe... i just want he pure-est yellow output i can get.. keep posting the pics and your setup
aznguyjac 08-26-2005, 04:49 AM Wait... DRL on high beam?! So your highbeam will be always on?!
yup, u read it right.... DRL on high beam, its always on
cuz i got JDM HID,
n its by law, in canada, every car after (i think its 1988) manufactured, need DRL, so i switched it over, just to prevent pulling over by cops
im not meant byi need PIAA bulbs, it was just an example
i meant by any yellow bulbs
EMPIKING66 08-28-2005, 04:31 PM no more pics ?
EMPIKING66 08-30-2005, 02:59 AM bump for some pics !
IIdiceII 10-17-2005, 01:19 AM bump for this thread...In the market for some headight and fog bulbs, both yellow
Psydotek 10-17-2005, 02:05 AM Not the best pic, but here's what my yellowstars look like compared to the OEM headlamp bulbs:
