Im looking to get an STI but want to know if there are more problems with the 2004 than with the 2005. I hear that since the 04 is the first year of that style STI it has more problems and they fixed all them and improved the car in 05. Is this true?? Also what is a good way to get an STI up to 300whp without turbo swap or FMIC??

I wouldn't say the 04s had more problems but there were definite improvements in the 05 STi as compared to the 04 STi. Searching will answer that question as well as your 300 whp (someone just went up to 378 whp in fact) question.

I'd get the 05 if possible for the better wheels and aluminum suspension.

05' interior is much less econo looking IMHO.

The 05's rear wheel flare creates more down force than the 04.

I like the '05 interior a little better, very small differences though - both very good performance.

No problems with my '04, at all.

me either, i'm glad i got the '04. i don't like the fender flare and i think there's too much blue in the interior. I will give the HVAC controls to the '05 though.

05's look wider than 04's from the back.
