I am goin to have my STI finally protuned.. My mods include perrin lightweight pulley, walbro fuel pump, invidia v2 dp(Catless), cusco heatshield, typhoon, turbosmart 50/50 bov, grounding kit, and bushings. The car is goin to be protuned.. Even the owner of the place said with stock turbo - catback is just basically a sound mod.. do any of you disagree.. Even after the protune - the car will sound stock which is awesome, because itll in fact have a bunch of mods. Thoughts?

I disagree, you need a catback. Without it you wont see any gains.

j/k It will help with flow and since you're getting it tuned you might as well pick something up even if it is Greddy SP2 or EVO2...simple, quiet and 80mm

TTT - anyone else. Like I said I even spoke with the owner of hi-rev where ill be getting it done, he said on stock turbo its no real gains.. maybe a few a very few on a dyno but not on the street. Mind you if he said get it I would purchase 1 from him which is like $600 more for him, so Im glad hes giving me his honest opinion.

or he wants to sell you more dyno time when you decide to get a catback. So he can "fine" tune it again for the new Mod.

I say don't get it if you don't plan on getting one soon, but if you do plan on getting one soon there is no reason not to just get it now before you get tuned.

Yeah, I dont see myself getting a bigger turbo anytime soon, and I think its cool that im putting out 300whp and sound / look stock. Less for me to get in trouble with (thieves, and police)

I spoke with him in quite some detail.. i have a good perception of people - my job kind of requires that (law enforcement) so I don't think he was trying to do that. He mainly said if I go bigger turbo then yes you will need it for the gains youll get but with stock turbo it isn't worth the money ESPECIALLY if you don't want the sound. And looking/sounding stock works for me.. even though the STI is fast as it is stock.. so you can't really say you have a sleeper cause an sti is already quick :alien:

Butt dyno says around 10-15hp in the middle and a couple up top. This is on a sti with a FP Green with a Prodrive axle back compared to when I had the stock axle back. All other mods being the same.

exactly.. fp green.. he said if you go to any other turbo like that 20g, green - red, gt series.. then youll get gains.
