I hear subarus are not good to redline. first its bad for the motor and second after a certain RPM the motor doesnt make anymore power so its good to shift before redline. Is this true and when is the best time to shift in a STi?

im use to driving hondas and crap cars where you can just redline any gear cuz I didnt care about it.

Well, its not a limitation of the STI but moreso of the vf39 turbo that the STI comes with. Using the stock turbo, it's better to shift between 6500-6700rpms.

On stock turbo, boost comes on fairly early. (3300-3500) and starts to really taper by 5k. Max torque is achieved at 4k. I usually shift around 6500 now, but am making a point to try different shift points at the track to see what's best.
