i know suv's in general roll over like any other truck out there. but, since the tribeca has the boxer engine that helps lower the center of gravity, what is the roll over factor with it?....can you roll it over?

yes, i know you can roll over anything. i was in a way, trying to compare the tribeca with the baja. the baja can take corners without the worry of roll overs very well. it seems to perform like a car, even though it is classified as a truck with its 9" ride height.

Anyway, I'm guessing Subaru has considered all of the typical tripping hazzards with SUVs and addressed them accordingly with the Tribeca. They're not new to the SUV market, and have had superior safety results with the Forester in it's class when it comes to safety.

The sun visor on the Tribeca has a rollover warning that no other Subie has, not even the Forester. OTOH its probably less likely to roll over than almost any other SUV.

if anyone with a tribeca could go into a parking lot or take a seriousli sharp turn somewhere, and can post their results it would be appreciated! :)

^^Yes, and Subaru makes a point of advertising that it doesn't require a rollover warning. So not all SUVs require it. I believe its based on a static analysis of suspension geometry, center of gravity, etc. A dynamic (road) rollover test is being phased in.

A person on the highway here I think it was last year Flipped a Forester on the highway.. I don't know how on earth they did it....

Actually, Forester is classified as wagon. Only SUVs classified as truck need roll-over warning label by law. Tribeca is classified as truck. Hence the label. It would be interesting to see if the 05 or later OBs carry the same warning labels as they are also classified as truck.

You can roll any car over if you try to defy laws of physics.

Its Funny we were by law required to place the warning lable above the visor due to the wheel base. But do to the built in VDC and the Boxer it would be interesting to really see one flip. Working for Subaru I have taking it around not only tight turns but around a race track pushing the limits. And it handles the road better then almost any other SUV's i've driven.

reality is that a vehicle with this much mass and ground clearance simply has the possibility of a rollover. will it ever happen? who knows... what does it have to help prevent RO? AWD, Stability Control, and All Speed Traction Control. No vehicle out there has a majical arm that sticks out to stop a vehicle from actually rolling... to avoid it, you need to keep the vehicle rolling straight. recently, the tribeca received quadruple 5 star crash test ratings from the government, and consumer reports recommended status. IIHS hasn't come out with results yet.

Make a sharp turn in highway speed, e.g. to avoid something, you're more likely to roll over with any car, even with VDC. I saw a Honda accord, listed as the least risk of roll over, flipped over right infront of my eyes. The guys was not even traveling fast (< 50mph).

Starting with the 06 model year, the Forester is now classified as a "light truck" to help Subaru meet CAFE fuel economy standards, but AFAIK it still doesn't have a rollover warning sticker.
