There are cheaper options to get you there. FP red, SZ65 ect.... but all turbo's will be hard pressed to get that number on pump gas...

What are you using for em?

no, he had the sr55. dr55 is different.

there are many people having success with aps parts (myself included with the "small sr50"), even the sr55.

Red is good why not a GT35 / 40 with that motor??

I've heard of a few issus with the APS
After seeing both that and a true Garrett, for that kind of power you may want to stick to the Garrett

The red is way less laggy than the GT35 and the peak power is about the same.

The red spools much more quicly so the torque curve is a constant ramp up. The GT35 feels faster driving because there is so much lag and then it spools and tires spin, but the peak torque is only a spit higher than the red. This means the red has more area under the curve and is more drivable....still a little laggy, just not as bad.

Please consider besides the red an SZ65, if you're going to go with a monster turbo OR the SZ55, which spools quicker than the red but makes slightly less peak power.

I'm contemplating selling my FP Green w/ welded shut wastegate, and full external tial 38mm wastegate dp and uppipe setup. its making 335whp/350wtq on 91 octane at 20psi or so. It would be an economical way to go.

Why does everyone knock this turbo for one persons ill fortune. I am sure that every major company has had a bad product. It is impossible to get 100% success rates on anything. Every type or product is going to have a failure.

1 the dr55 is rotated
2 esemes had the sr55 (bolt ont)
3 APS says these turbo should never be used with ANY top mount that they make to much heat
4 esemes had a top mount.
5 the DR55 is good for well over 400 wheel and will spool faster then a bolt on counter part capable of the same total out put.
6 bolt on high HP turbo make ALOT of heat compared to rotated setups.

I was told by a dealer that DR55 is not produced any more.

They have only DR65 for sale at the moment.

Anyone to correct this ?

1) correct

2) correct; i had TWO of them, actually

3) i reported this a year ago, after meeting w/ aps

4) true, but the secound iteration of the sr55 was with the dr725. it wouldnt matter on the topmount, really.... the dang turbos just arent worth the $$$ and can be easily outmatched by a 20G... (with a topmount)

5) i cannot comment, and without seeing it or talking to a privateer, i cannot believe it...

6) true, to an extent, but not as a whole (the effec. of the turbo makes a diff.)

trust me, if you wanna get over 350 wheels, stick to a 20G. it is nearly perfect for the 2.5l, and will outspool most everything....

i didnt sell my sz49 because it was too laggy, but rather to try to get rid of terminally rich stumble. (oops) my tuner could never get my car running correct. (no matter whether it was the 20G or the sz49, it was a mess of stumbles)
