Something isn't right - if you've got a CEL, then you've got a code somewhere in there. :(
Is that ODB2 reader that you're using compatable with Subaru? I know there are different standards with regards to encoding of ODB2 data.

If the scanner you purchased only reads active codes then there is a chance that the CEL is an innactive code (like a misfire that happened once and went away). This often leaves the CEL on for a few days and stores the code for later retrieval. Or as mentioned above, may be incompatable with Subaru.

The reader is the one from Canadian Tire that a few members are using. It should be compatible as far as I know?
