Im a nOOb to all this Subaru stuff, I have had Jeeps all my life. I have searched this topic and have come across Perrin, AP, and Mr. Josh, for new lightweight pulley's. I was wondering which company to get it from or do they all do the same thing and go with the cheapest one (Mr Josh for 90). Or do the Perrin becuase they specialize with subaru's?

$135 – Cobb (Cobbtuning.com) [1.2lbs]

$130 - Perrin Pulley (Perrinperformance.com) [1.2lbs]

$90 – Mr. Josh (Mrjosh43.com) [1.19lbs]

You do the math. I've heard many good things regarding Mr. Josh's pulley, so I'd go with that. Cheapest, lighest, used for all ej series engines (for us Subarus). I'd go for Mr. Josh.

I just put an unorthodox pulley ($80) and I love it. For install injfo, go to scoobymods.com and look under "impreza" The directions are the same for all 2.5's if that's what you got. If you have a wrx, follow the instructions but your belt sizes will be different. BTW, get new serpentine belts as long as you have them off to install the pulley. Enjoy. :D

P.S. my unorthodox weighs 14.9 oz. Beat that if you can.

I wouldn't want an underdriven pulley. I've put them on other cars and not only have they not lived up to expectations, but if you've got a daily driver, stuff like air conditioning, charging (big stereo guys take note here) and spark can take a hit unless you've really got your foot in it, which kills gas mileage. Lighten up the crank pulley but leave it stock size, you get the extra power, you don't lose any daily-life conveniences, and you might even see a little better gas mileage as people seem to think the car revs lower on the highway. That's an all-around winner.

yeah, mrjosh is a bit slow. But for the price, it is great. On ebay he often runs specials for like $85 shipped.

I'll chime in for the perrin pulley. Superb fit and finish, 1lb, 90% size (stock belts work fine)

It's ever so slightly heavier than the UR (have UR in friends STi) but not reall underdriven. It smoothed out the powerband considerably, I'd definitely recommend it. It may be expensive, but its definitely the best balance between lightness, underdrive(ness?) and fitment.

Bt yeah, it is $50 more than the mr josh, and its not like it gives you 10 hp...

I will concure with esper on the Perrin pulley. I have had mine for a couple months now and find the engine revs faster and makes the driving experience seem smoother. Highly recommend it.
