You hear a lot about STi, P1, DMS, Tein, etc. on the board, but not a lot about LEDA.

I have nothing against those other suspension setups. In fact, I've never driven any of them, with the exception of the P1, so I really can't compare them.

All I can say is that I'm very happy with my LEDA setup (with 20mm rear anti-roll bar; Toyo RA-1 on stock wheels; Mintex pads; no other suspension mods). Notice that this is the straight Mike Shields advice -- worked for me!

I use my car for track days, and I've caught Integra Type R's, M3's, various pony cars, NSX's, and even a 500hp Cobra replica, and I'm not that good a driver! My engine is BONE stock, by the way, so it's definitely the suspension (and the AWD, of course).

Anyways, I credit the LEDA suspension with a lot of whatever success I have at the track.

Is your car an RS or the WRX I've done some research on the Leda and I think it's the way I want to go too.

hey where in Aliso Viejo are you? haven't seen many scoobies around there.

How was the adjustability? Take much to get it dialed in? Considering this setup myself...

Thanks,

I have an MY00 RS. Not sure what the situation is for the WRX.

Re adjustability, I started out with what Mike Shields suggested, 5 front, 7 rear (off full soft). This seems to match my 300/225 springs pretty well. With my RA1's and 20mm rear bar, the car is neutral for the most part, with oversteer induceable at will. Through sweepers, it's easy to throttle steer with confidence.

I picked up a bit of oversteer under trail-braking when I went to the Mintex rear brake pads (previously I only had them on the front). Dialing back one click on the rear damper setting seemed to help quite a bit. In the end, I put the setting back where it was, but reduced my rear tire pressure instead. So the bottom line -- I haven't deviated much from the initial settings. Once at Buttonwillow I cranked up both F/R arbitrarily by four notches, just to see what would happen. Seemed to make the overall grip level much lower. Went back to 5/7 immediately afterward, and have been pretty happy since.

No shock dyno charts or anything (as you can probably tell, I'm no suspension setup guru), so all I can really say is, it works for me.

Do you drive this setup on the street. How is the ride quality with the 300/225 setup.

Decent setup, but not nearly the bulletproof chunks of steel the DMS units are. As long as you don't hit anything, they should hold up great ;)

I run this on the street as well as track days. Ride quality is surprisingly good for me, but YMMV with different bushings, tires, etc.

? We're talking a road race setup here, not rally, if that's what you mean. Not to knock DMS. Never tried them. I'm sure they're fine.

Hope you're as happy with it as I am.

I've heard the Ledas were very good but I also heard that they require rebuilding more often than, say, DMS. Like once a year.

Never heard that. Could be. I suppose it depends on usage.

What I'm talking about specifically is street use, plus (road race) track weekends once a month. Given that sort of usage, I'd be surprised if any strut would need rebuilding annually.

If you're talking about rally, again, that's another matter. I would think in a full rally application, you'd want to rebuild your struts after each season anyway, regardless of manufacturer. I don't know. I don't rally.
