I am selling my old but faithful '95 Subaru Impreza LX sedan. I bought it five years ago with about 86,000 miles on it and I've put over 97,000 miles on it for a grand total of around 183,300. I've replaced it with a newer Subaru but I still drive it occasionally to give it some exercise. This is a dark green four-door with power sunroof, four-wheel disc brakes, rear spoiler, and of course all wheel drive. It's got the 2.2L engine and a 4-speed automatic. It's got power mirrors but no power locks or windows.

As might be expected, the car does have some issues, though none of them affect driveability. Here are the negatives:

--There's some rust starting up. There is a golf-ball sized spot at the back of each rear wheel well where the body meets the bumper. I cleaned both spots up last year and primered them, but the rust is coming back. The worst of the rust is along the bottom edge of the trunk lid. It's grown a couple inches up, all the way across, and pieces have started flaking off. Probably not a big deal; it should be easy enough to get a replacement trunk lid from a scrap yard if you wanted.
--The car probably needs an oxygen sensor. Earlier this year, the check engine light came on and when I had the code read, it indicated an out-of-spec o2 sensor. After a while it went back off. Recently it came back on, and this time the code reads "reduced catalytic converter efficiency" which the guy said probably still indicates a bad o2 sensor. I replaced one oxygen sensor a couple of years ago, but apparently there are two in this car. Even in its current condition, the car usually gets between 24-28 MPG.
--A deer took off the driver's side rear-view mirror two weeks ago. Thanks to eBay, I installed a replacement mirror. It works fine, but there's still a piece of trim missing on the interior side of the mirror mount.
--The front brake pads need to be replaced.
--The power antenna doesn't go up and down well, so I disconnected the power lead.
--There's a pretty good hole worn through the carpet at the driver's feet (about 6 inches by 6 inches).
--The header heat shields on the left side rattle and need to be re-welded. I've put a clamp on them so they don't rattle as much, but that's only a temporary fix.
--The speedometer cable makes noise when it's cold, especially when it's humid and cold.
--The sunroof has a leak, but it drains fine as long as the car is parked level or inclined to the right (the side where the drain is).
--There appear to be a couple of instrument panel lights out; the only one that really affects the readability of any controls is the center light on the heating/AC control panel (temperature control dial).
--The tires might need to be rebalanced. A friend of mine mounted and balanced them in his garage a couple of weeks ago, but they seem a little off.
--There is a faint squeaking sound that only appears intermittently when the car is backing up; don't know if it's a wheel bearing or what.
--A comprehensive check by my mechanic found the following items: the rear U-joint is worn, there are a couple of minor oil leaks on the engine (cam seal, head seal, and valve cover seal), there is a small power steering fluid leak at the rack.

Whew. An ugly list, but again, none of it affects driveability. Here's the list of positives:

--I've maintained a complete service log on the car since I've owned it - everything is noted except little stuff like oil changes and burned out headlights. I did have the oil changed every 3000-5000 miles. I've also had the transmission serviced regularly.
--The car has a K&N air filter installed; it was cleaned and re-oiled about a thousand miles ago.
--The car comes with four Pirelli P400 all-season touring tires with around 4500 miles on them. My wife has the same tires on her car and they're still going strong with over 50,000 miles on the clock. These tires are mounted on "universal" 15-inch steel wheels. Plastic wheel covers are included.
--The front brake rotors were upgraded to cadmium-plated cross-drilled jobs. Why? They look cool. No other reason.
--The engine runs fine and the all wheel drive works well.
--There is a large, sliding, power sunroof.
--There's an Alpine cassette headunit installed along with an available Alpine 6-disc CD changer.
--I've still got the original owner's folio with the car's user manual. I'm pretty sure I've got instructions for the stereo and changer as well.
--The air conditioner works well.
--The cruise control works well.
--I put in a black carpet-type dashboard mat to cut down on reflections during sunny days (the factory dashboard is a light tan color which reflected a lot).
--There is a JC Sports front strut tower bar installed. This really tightened up the car's handling (and yes, I did get the suspension realigned after installation).
--It's got factory mud flaps.
--The car has a split fold-down rear seat for easy trunk access or hauling long objects.
--There were problems with the Carfax group account I use, but a check reportedly came back clear (which is no surprise since it came back clear when I bought it).
--I'm including some of extras: an extra front strut mount, extra OEM front brake rotors, an extra muffler with chrome BroSpeed tip, three extra hubcaps (different style than the ones on the car), an upgraded center console box (with a latching lid and coin holders; the original is included), a Chilton's repair manual, and a large factory Subaru Impreza parts guide.

Also available are the following optional add-ons: Alpine CD changer, $50; 15-inch Primax "beater" alloys with Subaru hub spacers, $50; Thule roof rack, $100; brand new NEX racing seats, $200. Additionally I'd be willing to part with my 16" OEM WRX alloys with worn-out Potenzas for $200. I was saving them for my new car, but if somebody wants them, they're available. I'll even install them for you.

Base price on the car for NASOIC members is $1400 (it's being advertised locally for $1500); the above add-ons are extra. If you want all the extras with the car, I'll work with you on the final price. Believe it or not, the Blue Book private party value for the car itself in "fair" condition is $2700.

Like I said before, the car still runs and drives fine. I'd still be driving it full-time except I'm going to be making a cross-country drive in the next couple of months. I decided that instead of putting money into fixing all the annoyances with this car, I'd add a little more money to the pot and put a downpayment on a new car instead. This one has served me well, but it's time to move onward.

I can deliver the car within northern lower Michigan (from M72 north to the Bridge). If you want to look at the car, contact me to schedule a time.
