View Full Version : FXT on the 1/8th

I was lazy and didn't swap out my rims for the stockers so I was running on my 225/40/18 Kuhmo MX's and was hooking up pretty hard so I was taking it easy on the launches. According to the weather data temps where low 80's with low 60's humidity.
b4437 08-29-2005, 02:05 PM is your car tuned? that seems kind a low for your mods. u can get 8.9 1/8th on a stock fxt. :)
Tanj! 08-29-2005, 03:20 PM No tuning. And an improvement over my prior pure stock numbers.
djoye 08-29-2005, 04:13 PM Throw away the CAI?
Skully 08-30-2005, 01:19 AM wow, seems really slow. how much boost?
Tanj! 08-30-2005, 12:17 PM Stock. No EM.
Balr14 08-30-2005, 03:24 PM The stock tires on an FXT launch just about perfectly. The ones you are using would definitely hurt your times.
Tanj! 08-30-2005, 06:57 PM Yeah i love the stockers pumped up to max at the strip. At least we found a good use for the Geolanders.
Balr14 08-31-2005, 01:02 PM Yep. 42 - 44psi in those GeoSquealers and you launch with perfect tire spin, no clutch slipping and no bogging and can chirp the tires in 3 gears with barely any rpm drop between shifts. All with little or no driveline shock or stress. It's even better with a TBE, TD05-18 or TD06-18 and a tune. Instant spool, instant torque, very easy low 12's. I shocked a few STIs and EVOs at the local strip, using parts taken from a wrecked STI that are kind of beat up. When I can afford a nice new Deadbolt Monster TD05 or TD06, a Cobb FXT TBE, some nice injectors and better TMIC, I'm taking it to Jorge in Chicago for a good tune. I'll bet I can run 11s. I'll also stock up on take-off GeoSquealers. Can't beat them for drag racing.
I love my FXT. 100% stock looking and usually dirty. It's the ultimate sleeper.

That's Zumble's '05 FXT I did on Saturday at XX Tuning. 18.5 PSI by 3100 RPM, a taper to around 13.5 by redline.
Mods were:
Up/Down pipe
5H/16G
STI TMIC
Let's just say that this thing is absolutely disgusting on the road... Especially with that 4.44 final drive.
PM Zumble for more details.

Zumble 08-31-2005, 02:44 PM This was on stock FXT/STI injectors on a DynaPack 5500.

Chiketkd 08-31-2005, 03:57 PM Amazing numbers! What kinda times do you run in the 1/8th or 1/4 Zumble?

Zumble 08-31-2005, 04:00 PM No idea yet. But I would imagine the weak link would be the driver in a the 1/8th mile with that much torque, 4.44 final and AWD.. =P

Balr14 08-31-2005, 04:40 PM Damn, you guys make it real hard for me to wait to get good parts. I know I have leaks in the parts I'm using. I don't know if they are from bends or cracks, or both. I didn't pay anything for them, so I can't complain; but they are in rough shape. The guys at the Subaru dealer I hang out at have this wrecked, modded STI and we decided to see how the stuff fits on an FXT. We will probably return it to stock next weekend, before something fails. But, it's been lot of fun.
Tanj! 08-31-2005, 04:48 PM Very nice torque plateau err i mean curve. Congrats Zumble on the fun car to drive and to Jorge for producing such nice numbers. Now if only I didn't need to spend around 3.5k on brake and suspension upgrades first...

You dont "need" to spend 3.5K on brake and supsention. What the hell are you buying, gold plated calipers? SS (sterling silver, not stainless steel) lines?

Tanj! 09-01-2005, 03:21 PM I track (road course) my car 8 to 10 times a year. A BBK is needed in the future at around 1.2k and I'm seriously considering the 25way adjustable Ohlins at around 2k. Add in springs for the Ohlins and I'm at 3.5k. Can I shave a bit off that number buying used etc? Yeah but i still don't expect to finish all that for less then maybe 2.8k. If I budget 3.5k I'll be in the right ballpark.
