Wow... supermoose, that's the first time I hear anyone call the STi slow. If it was anyone else, I'd assume they don't know *** they are talking about. But... It's all relative I guess. Scary to think how fast your car is.

I agree the usdm sti is a pig, but you are comparing a stock car against your car.. Cmon, that is like me driving your car and coming back here and posting how slow and crappy it is compared to my car.. It is all relative.

Yea i love the 207's man.. They are my favorite motors.. I loved my v7 ra-c motor..

i agree with moose that the usdm sti is super slow. i have beat numerous stis in my 90 240sx with an sr and 14psi. but yesterday i got sideswiped by some bastards towin a trailer and they almost took off all of my clean ass silvia front end but all they got was the passenger fender. just gives me more incentive to get my rhd gc8 with the jdm ej20g running. so hopefully this weekend it will be my gc8 claimin all the stis.

sure did and the douche ass cop wouldnt even assign fault. so i now have to either hire a lawyer or fight with their insurance agency to get my car paid for.

LOL the 240hp EJ20G in its stock form is most likely not going to claim an Sti that easily.

Just remember, not every STI you see is stock. I have seen the few local modded STIs put a hurting on guys that thought that because they beat a coupel stock STIs that they can beat all. It doesnt take much money or effort to make them dangerous. I do agree that in stock form, they are not amazingly powerful. They are definately fast, there is no way you can call a 13 sec@100+mph car slow. You just cant. Even if you are jaded because you drive an 11 sec car, that doesnt mean that a stock STI is slow. Its slowER than you, but when you are in that time range, pretty much every production car ever made is slower than you, so being slower than your car is not a good way to judge anything. In the grand scheme of things, anything that can hit a time faster than mid 13's IS fast. Anything that can break 100mph in the 1/4 IS fast.
And your car (or any car) with a ton of money into it and nothing remotely resembling a warranty is not the thing any showroom stock car should be measured against.

Yea give me a break. You need to get your head checked if you're calling a stock STI (any version) slow!

The fact is your (modded) car is amazingly fast! Faster than 99% of the cars on the road! A stock STi is faster than maybe... 95% of the cars on the road. :D

my car is pretty much a bone stock 95 sti with a boost guage. oem close to everything :)

Stock for Stock, Subaru may never make the USSpec faster than the JSpec...I know if I was somebody like ford, I'd make sure the Mustang is faster in the US than anywhere else in the world. But just between the 2 they will always respond different to certain mods. Obviously cuz of the .5L liter difference and basically totally different structure of engine.

Although my example is not the mustang it is a ford, what about the escort cosworth? Though from my understanding the development of that car was all on Ford of Europe, but still Ford America should have laid down the law.....or atleast bring a version over here with a bigger turbo or a v8 :p

but isn't the motor on the '06 STi's the same motor that came on the '04 and '05 STi's? i'm sure they used the same 2.5L motor, so how can this be or feel different. the power should still be there. i don't think they changed the motor.

IF they havent recieved the reflash for the det issues the early 04's had. You can def feel a difference between an early, unflashed 04 and an 05.
