Hello.
I was thinking about buying lighter GC8 coupe car body and puting everything from my wrx inside it. What is APX price of those cars around you think and is everything from wrx fits fine in it? Engige, exhaust, turbo and rest?
Thank you.

Some of the suspension mounting points are different, but the drivetrain will swap. Just find an early 90's brighton. They're the cheapest impreza you'll find. A couple hundred bucks for one that may or may not run.

coupe = GM and unless you live out of the US you are going to be getting a GM4 or 6. the 8 is overseas. (engine specification) and yes a wrx engine and stuff will fit up. gonna take some mad wiring though. and if its an 02-03 wrx i think you can make the springs/struts fit. and sway bars are no problem fitting up. umm yah?

edit: i forgot the pricing  if you want to get a little impreza L coupe you can find an older one for cheap. its just like its 98-01 RS cousin but without all the flashy stuff and a different engine. but if you are swapping the engine you will just need (assuming you want this) some nice exterior parts to make it purty.

I'm thinking of doing the same thing. Can you use the stock tranny on the rs with a wrx engine or do you need to get the wrx tranny too?

Thx!

you can use the stock rs tranny .. or you cna use the stock L tranny mine has 175k miles on it

your looking for the 95-01 coupe
95 being by far the most desirable due to no obd-2

If you move everything from your WRX there should be very little wiring. Just completely strip both cars and move the WRX wiring harness over. All you will have to do is wire up the lights and the wiper motor, and that is simple. The dash will fit but you will have to reuse the rest of the GC's interior. As far as the suspention goes, everything will bolt right up except for the rear struts. You have to change out the rear top mounts. The ride hight will be a little higher because of the strut and spring combo but it will handle ok, or better than stock.

Kids, I don't think Wayne has tried this at home, there are far more differences in the two harnesses than just the lights and wiper motor.

Swapping dashes is way more work than merging harnesses - a dash swap entails more wiring too. There is no way to avoid wiring altogether or even come as close as a wiper motor and headlight!
