View Full Version : New car since gas is insanely expensive :P
LowNSlowNeon 09-01-2005, 03:16 AM LOL... well I don't think this could be because of the gas prices... =/
It gets probably around 20ish mpg :( :(

Good bye SXT Neon. ;)
Talking with the owner of the dealership tomorrow about parking my SRT on his lot to sell it. I'll tell him I want 19.. so he will probably sell it for 21... (hopefully)... Demodding it this week
When the SRT is sold...A shop in Vegas will be finding me a nice CRX for sale.. and going to build me a nice b16 motor with forged internals and what not for boost... and I'll ship it up here BEFORE next summer hopefully ;)
I'll have pics later...
Spitfyre02 09-01-2005, 06:43 AM a quad cab pickup truck..ya might want to rethink buying that since gas is going over 3 dollars a gallon and I heard a nasty little rumor that in GA that gas is almost 6 bucks a gallon there.
eurojax 09-01-2005, 07:02 AM Yeah dude, I don't know why anyone would want a pickup right now. Unless you work construction for a living and need to haul **** all the time. Even then, get a friggin' trailer.
I need to convince my parents to sell their trucks.
SparkysJDMSpeedWagon 09-01-2005, 08:46 AM You need a winter vehicle, that's why you got the 4x4, right? Just get a Legacy or Outback instead...more room inside, drives like a car, but still has AWD, better gas mileage, better brakes, safer in crash tests...I don't know how much off-roading you have in mind, but I bet it's a lot less than you think, and even then, I think the Outback could probably tackle a good portion of it ;)
LowNSlowNeon 09-01-2005, 11:20 AM eh the gas mileage is good enough for me.... it's not gonna be the main ride.. once I get my little CRX.. I'll drive it daily.. I'll drive this in the winter.. and in the summer it'll be a tow rig ;) In the winter.. I drive to work.. to home.. to the grochery store.. (work is 1 mile away.... grochery store is half mile away) ;)
cooparu 09-01-2005, 12:48 PM Buy some good walking shoes. :)
Peterk 09-01-2005, 03:55 PM Pics in the paper today gas in GA is over $6 a gallon.

Between my wife and I.. I think I can afford gas...haha
3000 + a month income...
Bills
Truck $600
Insurance $265
Cable/TV/Etc $100
$2500 to food and gas... I think we can manage.
PS: Hopefully the SRT is sold soon.. otherwise knock another 400 off the spending money.. but still $2100 to spendo n food and gas... plenty enough.
OKRS25 09-01-2005, 05:52 PM 90% of Georgia's gas came from pipelines that have been shutdown since the hurricane. I wouldn't expect it to become to much of a trend.
Peterk 09-02-2005, 12:57 AM That is true, and I hope not!!
tribalwrx 09-02-2005, 03:18 AM haven't those people been gouged enough now the have to pay 6 bucks a gallon, now i understand that most of there supply was cut off from the hurricane but come on thats total bs. even the pink elephant up here is up to 2.72 a gallon and i've seen it as high as 2.89 at some of the shell stations, i think its about time to buy a bicycle or start a carpool in the morning if the price of gas keeps going up :furious:

Peterk 09-02-2005, 04:40 AM And this is a forum where most people have turbos..... ;)

What the mfg says a car/truck gets is WAY different than what I bet you'll get in the winter.
Less than 10mpg in thge winter for a F-150 driven by my wife, would be less if I drove it
Here is what I ordered right after realizing that
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v395/iczelion-11/100_1038.jpg
Still costs over $30 to fill but not having to do that as much.
By the way MY 2.5RS gets a constant 22mpg no mater how I drive unless going to Ancortown then it's almost 30mpg
Cheers
Shawn

With home that close why buy anything?
You said on AKMS you were thinking about a jeep wrangler too. You should wait till next year to see if they offer the tubo diesel in the Wrangler, that would average mid 20's mpg.
LowNSlowNeon 09-03-2005, 06:00 AM Well.. the Jeep had no damn rebates at all... and the truck had a ton ;)
More luxury in a truck too.. power everything.. heated seats... etc...etc.. ;)
AK_2002_WRX 09-03-2005, 06:36 AM i'm thinking of trading the car in for something with better gas mileage... i can work and go to school and not have to lose an entire paycheck towards the car... then when i graduate college i can get the new 2008 STi:lol:
seriously, with all the driving i do in a day, something more practical would be good.
00Maddog 09-04-2005, 04:28 AM I've been running the cobb economy map, works great. I still enjoy the cars road feel without all the power. boost is a solid .05 , never more. lots of advance timing too, tip in is great. just an idea for people rather then selling ;)
gas is expensive... but don't think you won't take a big $$ hit selling/trading newish cars.
