i just bought my sube bout three months ago with 35,000 miles on it and let my budy drive it- he brilliantly launched while reving at about 5500rpm's and since then my car has been making a weird whining noise in first gear anytime i accelerate or decelerate.. sounds similar when driving in reverse.

Now i know ur not supposed to launch that hi due to the weaker transmission on the 02' model- (i kicked my friends ass afterward) so im just prayin that nothin serious happened.

Please let me know if anyone has any clue what can cause this noise- thanx!

I am sure you don't want to hear this, but 1st gear is probably missing a tooth now. I will keep gettin' worse if I am correct.

everythings coo- just had the car checked out at a subaru dealership and they said theres noting to worry about so im in tha clear!
