View Full Version : Difference between old N/A EJ22's and newer Kawikid20o2 09-02-2005, 03:38 PM I blew a 1992 EJ22E and my mechanic has a newer EJ22 that he is going to drop in for me. Im just wondering if the newer ones have a different compression ratio and if they are less strong. Also are there any difference with the heads like dual port/ single port? drewdogg 09-02-2005, 04:43 PM I just read in another post, in 97 the 2.2 went up to 9.7:1 which ups the HP to somethin like 147 IIRC. i dont know what year they were single port but i just put in a 91 that's dual, so you should be fine. Wiring will be a different story. Kawikid20o2 09-03-2005, 05:25 AM I am sorry for cross posting i did not intend to break the rules i posted in different areas to get different opinions i was not in any way second geussing what you guys said! if you check the time of post they were probably within like 10min of each other. I only did that to speed up the responce time since i dont have much time before i need to tell my mechanic whether or not to put the turbo on the new motor.
