Why do you want to do that? Not very cost effective since you don't even have a RS now. If you do get the RS, I heard there are good aftermarket turbo kits available.

with an aftermarket turbo how well can a 2.5 rs run, cause either way the 2.5 rs is an sohc right?

I believe the MY99+ are SOHC, however, the MY98 is a DOHC. Correct me if I am wrong.

Or you can look for a Japan Spec engine from the old wrx that looked just like the 2000-2001 2.5 rs. I hear it's a perfect swap..almost. I saw one for sale that came with engine, turbo, transmission, ecu, wiring harness, and mounts for $2800. That was a while ago. This is what i'm planning on doing. 285hp..woo hoo.

I think this would be a good discussion to start in the aftermarket forced induction area.

Put an ftermarkt turbo kit on the 2.5. You'll make enough power and torque to make ALMOST ANY US spec WRX cry.
