So, I decided today that I am going to upgrade my fuel pump from the stock one to a Walbro 255. I want to upgrade the injectors also so that I have potential to upgrade the turbo at a later stage. I was just wondering if you can tell me how much of a PITA it would be to do the pump and injectors, I know that a re-tune is involved...but, other than that.

02 WRX
Turbo XS stage 2 unichip
3" turbo back exhaust
Short ram intake
MBC at about 16 lbs.

injectors take about an hour to do if you know what you are doing the fuel pump about a 1/2 hour. i was a mechanic so i am used to working in tight areas . so a little longer for the shade tree mechanic . p.m me if you need any help :)

So, I havent really had a chance to look into everything yet, so is the pump in the fuel tank? cause 1/2 hour doesnt seem too long, so, is it outside? Also, I have heard about modding the stock injectors, and if I do, would I still need a retune, or do I have to get new injectors and a new tune for sure?

a friend and i removed 2 sets of gbod. one on a friends car and the second on my car.

the first time is really difficult. but shouldnt take you more than 2 hours even if you dont know where the screws are. the second time we did it, it went by a lot faster. the driver's side came out in less than 20 mins. the passenger side took a little longer, mayb 40 minutes or less. ( i didnt help with the uninstallation, i was doing the injectors.).

injectors are really not that hard. just have an extra pair of hands to pull the fuel rail up a little when trying to put the injector in. besure not to pull too hard and bend a line or something. when putting the bolts back in for the fuel rails, try to thread them by hand first to aviod cross threading. we cross threaded one of the bolts and broke the TGV. luckily we had one lying around. so it was okay. Lubing the o-rings is the key. i tore about 3 of the 4 o-rings. dont buy them from subaru, just go to any hardware store and get them.

well the first time we installed hte injectors, we had no tears. i guess this time it was cold outside and the rings were really stiff.
