I've been toying with the idea of replacing my H1 headlight bulbs with some PIAA Ion Yellow H1 bulbs (or equivalent). However, I wasn't sure if they were street legal. I know that law enforcement around here started cracking down on those hyper blue or purple headlights a few years ago, but that seems to have died down. Anyone using yellow bulbs for their headlights?

I was playing with that idea too when i had my gc8...

I think it turned out, they are illegal unless used for fogs.. and
since theyre yellow, they would totally suck in any condition outside of a pitchdark black unlit road??

I maybe wrong, hopefully someone who knows more can set you on the right path or somethin.

Theyre legal in france though.. i know that much fer sure.

There's a big writeup on Daniel Stern's site about the pros and cons of yellow light.

Skell's pretty much right; with no or little white light, they will show a level of detail with no glare that will let you see very far ahead (especially if you turn your foglights off). But when there are streetlights or anything more powerful than moonlight, they will be drowned out.

Legality's state by state; don't know about Washington. It would be useful in fog.
