Sorry if this is a bit off but I have roots in YVR so am alway checking this forum. I'm just getting settled in Cranbrook after our recent move, the RS loved the drive out too. Is there any autocrossing near hear other than calgary? Any good local road out here?

Really, crap didn't know you were there, we were just in Nelson a couple of weeks ago. Are the roads that you are talking about paved?

Lol, well I'm easy to miss ;) As for the roads yeah lots of fun roads. Even at highway speed heading up north shore from nelson to the Ainsworth hot springs is a sweet windy ride, one of my favorties. Not to mention at the end of the ride you get to soak in the springs haha.
Anywho, hope you like Cranny, I know a few pepes who have lived there and had nothing but good things to say about it.
Cheers,
Tim

i grew up in Cranbrook and know the roads pretty good. there is a area about 10km out of town on the way to moyie lake. its called lumberton, there is a super cool gravel switchback road, it leads to a really nice area called moyie falls. I used to rally up there with an old rusted out 84 subaru GL turbo wagon!!! it was a blast.
what you doing in Cranbrook? i visit about once a month.

good enough reason to move there i guess.
not a lot to do in town but the area is beautiful. lots of good biking and hiiking trails. most of the good gravel dirt roads have been closed though, so unless you are willing to be fined its rather hard to get a good drive in.

Was hoping to find some good paved drives, haven't continued on from Kimberly up to the invermere road yet.
Was also going to see if there was any interest in starting up an autocross club in town and hope to use the Rexplex/curling club parking lot. Since there is no speed shop in town it's hard to talk to people....

i don't reall think there would be enough interest in Cranbrook, but if you could try to get something started for the Cran/kimberly/ fernie/ jaffery etc. you might get enough people. most people are into their big trucks and quads in that area. a really fun paved drive is the old airport road. it goes from cranbrook through the reserve and on to the airport. it is so twisty you will get dizzy!!! if you give it a go you can always stop at the casino for some blackjack

That's what I was thinking but I keep seeing cars in town that are made for it. Talked to one guy with an MP3 mazda and he didn't know what autocrossing was. Sigh.
