Should I try Shoe horning one of those performance EJ257 engines into an Outback?
along with the Sixspeed of course but with new gearing ratios.
Would that trick the Drift team on the STi on the Cover of SCC be worth it - using a skyline rearend on an STi work without too much fab work or is it one of those two week all day and night projects.
Just Really Curious

huh? you want to put an EJ257 into an Outback and put a skyline rear on an STI? With enough money you can do anything but it would probably take more that two weeks and be a waste of money in the end, but you would put someones kid through college so i would do it.

Everything can be a waste of money. EJ257 ina Outback, Hell yea. Skyline rear in a STI don't know about that.

Theres WRX engine swaps into Legacys all the time. Even a few 6 speed swaps. It would probably take a little bit of fab work thgouh, and that rear end would take a LOT of fab work.
First off an EJ257 would drop right in. SO will the 6MT once you clearenced the firewall and trans tunner a bit with a big f'ing hammer. (Of course you will need the shorter drive shafts and other stuff. It is a BIG job though, more so is you want the VCD.) Most of the hard work would be electrical and harness stuff.
GT-R rear.....why? If your stock STi mech. LSD isn't enough for ya just go with a CUSCO or KAAZ unit.

You should do a little research into what's involved in swaps on your own.. there is an entire forum for this.
You shoudn't approach car modding with the idea that you're going to impress some drift team.

The Skyline rearend, I saw in SCC I didn't get the mag so I don't know if they explained how they got the rear end on there or if they had to completely fab it on.
The whole point wasn't to impress anybody just get some laughs out of people.
If a situation can't be laughed at then it's too serious to be taken serious, seriously.
