i remember reading a while back that some car company or something was coming into town around now. They had some kind of BYOcar and they'll teach you some stuff for one day. Anybody know anything about that???

NASA has High Performance Driving Education... basically you pay 200ish dollars and get to go around Firebird or PIR with instructors in your car. Great time plus there's always a bunch of Subarus. Surge keeps good track of all of the events (Autox and shows too) on his site... http://www.surgestreetshop.com/events.asp

that's cool, but there was something else. it was spending one day in each city and moving across the us. i think it may have been free.

The real driving school in town is Bondurant but it definitely isn't free :)

Bondurant costs about $1k a day. I hear there is one school that is a little better/more expensive, but it is still top-notch and from what I hear, it will make you a MUCH better driver...I really want to do it.

driving schools are cool, you can learn so much if you get hooked up with the right instructors. im doing an event with these guys nov 4th out at button willow. actually one of their instructors used to be the chief instructor out at bondurant. check them out at open track day

There was a Chrysler event at Firebird over the weekend. Not sure of the specifics, but I heard that Chrysler was doing a Mazda Rev It Up-esque program this year.
