Started the car today and there was a sheet load of gas / gas vapor coming out the exhaust and all the symptoms of running on three cylinders.

Isolated the problem to cylinder #4. FI plug off no smoke/gas. FI connector on the gas comes back. It's like the injector is on 100% of the time. But when the power is removed it seems like the injector is closed. It seems like way too much gas for the idle duty cycle.

There is spark. Engine is a 92 EJ20G JDM with liberty four ignitor ECU.

Any idears? Anyone experienced a stuck on injector?

andys: This would seem to indicate a short to ground on the control side of the injector. In the circuit the injector is always powered and the ECU provides ground to activate it. Look for a short to ground on that wire from the injector to the ECU. Though rare I have seen injector failures, but not being stuck open.

thanks! short to ground on the control side was what it was. sketchy. a 100% on injector makes quite the mess!!!!

You might wanna change your oil before you run the car. A local here had an injector issue and went super rich. Washed down the cylinder walls and scored a piston.

you are very lucky you didn't bend a rod and as deadbolt suggested change your oil ASAP, i watched fireballs come out of valve covers and ex-coworker of mine deflooded a car that had an issue like that. It was really impressive actually, blew the valve cover right off a Chrysler Turbo 2.2l....god i still remember the sound that made
