taeyax82 10-09-2005, 05:04 PM hey I have 02 RS.. I did a wrx engine conversion last jan.. with RS tranny..
i got spec stage 2 clutch with fidenza lightened flywheel.... I just installed bigger intercooler.. with greddy-s BOV. and my clutch slips whenever my boost builds up.. every gear.. what should i do? get a higher staged clutch?
can someone recommend one for me.. on RS tranny.. thanks kevin

HndaTch627 10-10-2005, 12:26 AM sounds like you clutch was nothing more then an upgraded disc, if that's the case it won't hold. my ACT will hold it but it definitely has a much heavier pedal than most
taeyax82 10-10-2005, 03:15 AM can someone post me a link to a clutch site.. thanks..

hookedoncrime 10-11-2005, 10:34 AM Get a stage 3 for ****s and giggles.
senomar 10-11-2005, 11:00 PM my personal experience on this is the RS clutch isn't up to snuff to hold the power of the EJ20 (and a few mods, which i assume will end up on your car as well). I got the front part of the case changed so i could use a WRX pull type clutch (along w/ my STI gears)... many people seem to be fine with their stock RS clutches. maybe their only at stock power levels. but i can't imagine doing a WRX motor swap, and leaving it at that... i'm only running a vf22+everything else to support that, and my stage 3 SPEC clutch slipped terribly... at this point i'm running the trans i mentioned and an organic exedy sport clutch (one step above stock), and am very happy. I spent a bunch of money on 2 clutches I could've saved for a million other things, and regret i didn't do it (imho) right the first time... just my 2 cents. good luck whatever you decide...
taeyax82 10-28-2005, 02:17 AM anymore suggestions? I have catless uppipe & downpipe, fidanza lightened flywheel, invidia catback. injen CAI, walbro pump. etc.. planning for VF34 or 39, Pinks, AP, bigger intercooler..or front mount.. i need someone to recommend me a clutch that'll hold all this power.. thanks
hybrid gti 2 10-28-2005, 02:50 AM I have stage 2+ and it's great. how many miles and launches on the clutch?

They also will not have as heavy of a feel as an upgraded ACT pressure plate.
I am sure there are WRX trans cases out there to be had
i have a ACT street .. it does ok ..
FWIW the 05+ legacys turbos are push aswell

that sucks for legacy guys...
i must have been really tired when i wrote my last response, and i'd like to make something a little clearer...
- i was still running the RS trans when i had my stage 3 spec clutch (and like i said, big time problems holding the power of the measly vf22)
- it was only *after* i switched to the pull type that i have had absolutely no problems with the transmission
-the only clutch i've used since switching to the pull type is the exedy sport (organic face), and like i said before, have been completely satified
i think that should about clear things up for now... anyway, put my vote down for a tranny switch for all you boosted RS guys (and now legacy guys).
subbyspeed 10-28-2005, 11:42 PM huh.. i'm using my rs tranny on my wrx swap, with an exedy stage 1.. and its been perfect so far.. No problems at all. In fact it feels better than the stock clutch did with the old engine.
taeyax82 10-29-2005, 02:51 AM thanks for replys.. i do wanna go for the tranny swap.. but don't i have to replace the rear differential, drive shaft and axles? is there a way just ot change the clutch fork and make it a pull type without replacing all these parts and keep the same gears? so best bet for now is to get exedy clutch?
thanks kevin
subbyspeed 10-29-2005, 04:06 PM If you use a wrx tranny, then you have to use wrx clutch components. I don't know of anyway to make a wrx tranny a push type. The cases are different, so i'm not sure if its even possible.
supermoose 10-29-2005, 07:07 PM cases are diff. just get a 4.11 turbo style gearbox if u dont wanna touch your rear end. 4.11 is the most common pull style turbo gearbox in the world (just not in usa). ask your local friendly JDM parts importer to catch u a 4.11. youll need the clutch setup, and slave cylinder as well (as the forks and pin and such). not that hard.
taeyax82 10-29-2005, 10:50 PM hey guys.. i'm looking at ACT Clutch Kit.. model #SB2-HDR4. cost around $420. but its a racing application.. i dont know..if its ok.. in street.. and also i'm looking at clutch master.. but dont know too much about em.. well let me know.. what you guys think thanks kevin
