Hey guys. Proud to say my V.2 STi 555 swap is finally running and sounding great however.........

When throttling down hard at mid-high rpms the fuel cuts or something. the car will bog down. Once i shift it will pull great again and then bog when it gets into the mid-high rpm range again. Good example is on the freeway when cruising around 75 and i give it some gas it will slowly push up and be fine but if i give it a lot of gas trying to pass someone it will pick up and then bog right before it wants to really go.

Last tank of gas was 91 with octane booster. speedo and everything works perfectly. any ideas? it's great fun now but there is so much more of a beast in there and i would like to get to use it :)

are you venting the wastegate to atmosphere? sounds like a boost leak and/or a bad fuel pressure regulator

i'm not exactly sure.....sorry i'm learning a bunch about my car since the swap but still learning how everything works. everything is set up to stock specs. runnin the stock ecu ect... how do i test for a leak or a bad fuel pressure regulator?

i don't think it's my stock L fuel pump. i can't imagine it would have the power it does now running that. i can find out exactly tomorrow. gonna have to call the shop that installed everything and ask.

you've got lots of experience behind you moose...have you personally had a problem like this before? just curious if this is kind of a normal problem.

i would blame it running lean. check fuel pump and fuel filter- good to have a new one anyway. usdm sti is great for your app, $40 shipped is the going price.

ive got one in my car myself. works peachy.

id probably spike the gas hardcore with real race fuel for a safety blanket. esp bc u are in cali with slut gas. get some blue stuff, its not that much more than normal gas these days anyways.

connect the 2 black engine OBD plugs (im assuming you have a proper harness in your car, if not......
check the codes. pulls the same codes as USA OBD. then reset it- if you dont pull any codes, then obviously dont need to reset. to reset; shut off car, conect both green and black, and drive around until the cel blinks constant. then you are reset, revert to unconnected.

i've never had that kinda probelm liek you are having, but i would place bets on either a vacume leak of sorts, or fuel issues. my personal guess would be fuel issues because a missfire spark would be more easily heard on the idle side of things (although your coilpacks could not have good raars), and a vacume would make idle suck.

who did your swap? if the fuel pump has not been upgraded they should be shot. you'll run your EJ20 lean and then cry alot. version 2 STi's are the bomb. hard to come by.

my V2 sti-RA walks my friends V5 sti ej207. the weight makes a huge differance. little bit more power too, a 207 sti-ra would be a differnt story...

I had the same exact bogging problem, but im runnin a 2.2 on a 1.8 ecu. Knowing i was having TPS problems from the beginning of the swap i unplugged it and the bogging went away.

you unplugged the TPS?
and it runs?
um whoa ..

back on subject .. how much boost are you running?
could be fuel cut...
that is when it would happen ..

yup, it runs... in idle it kinda fluctuates but runs fine.

moose - yeah i have the proper harness. JDM harness that went in was uncut so that was nice. i'll go plug those in shortly. at idle it runs great and also when i'm driving other than the surge when i floor it. Modern Garage back in SLC did my swap. Good people over there. I'm stoked it's a 555 edition so i got a little bit of a power upgrade
