not as easy as buying a 04/05 instead of the 06...it is probably possible but might require a few small modifications

yes it is very possible. We sat the cars next to each other.

The radiator support would need to be swapped out... otherwise should be a bolt up deal.

anyone else considering this?

I did a Front end conversion from an 02 to an 04, its not that hard. (I had a wrecked car, so it was more time for me) All you gotta do is the bumper, fenders, hood, Mud guards, headlights, and foglights. The biggest problem you would run into, would be headlight wiring (if the 06 is different then the 04-05.) When i did the conversion for the 02, i had to have it rewired cuz the 02 is a 2 light system, and the 04 is a 4 light system. I have connections with dealerships, and part depos, so i got all the parts for about 1400. (this was including some frame rails, and aprons.)

Whats the point? Why spend all the money just to make it look older? Why not get an 05 and mod it? I dont mean to shoot down your ideas, youre just asking if its possible I know. Dont take it the wrong way Im just curious

The whole idea was completely rhetorical, I'm not planning on buying an 06' WRX or STi, nor would I take the time to perform the mod if I did. The thought just crossed my mind and like you I am too just "curious".

I just know there are a lot of people on this site that seem unhappy with Subaru's move to the new front end.

Hell I would consider it with the 2.5 in the WRX now and the god awlful front end

Possibly, but it depends on the needs for the buyer. the 06 offers a good amount of upgrades including the 2.5. That statement was more geared towards people who have wagons and such. there are a lot of people including myself that wouldn't want to get into a STI because of insurance and the wing to say the least.
