Hi folks, I read up on some people considering swapping auto HVAC systems from other models.

I am curious if anyone has taken an 05/06 auto HVAC system and swapped it in the 06 WRX TR.

If no has done this, if you have any idea how complex this might be please elaborate.

In my search I noticed that you would have to install a few sensors inside the cabin. How hard might this be and other than that is it a general bolt on?

I would track down an exploded view of both systems.

*this is second hand info from a friend who looked into it...*

it is a HUGE job... the entire system (and your entire dash) needs to be pulled apart to do it. General concensus is that it isn't even close to worth it given the time and money involved. The big problem isn't the sensors, it is the fact one is manual, and one is electrically operated. So you have to replace all the ducting with the correct ones with motors.
