How hard would this be? is there an early wrx ecu that will run my ej22t and go into my 95 impreza fairly easy. I just thought about doing this since my motor has to be rebuilt any way? I am particularly interested if any of the earlier ecu's can be reflashed.

now theres an idea.... since your going all-out with the rebuild, shouldnt you just go to standalone? :D

run yes
run well no
nothing is flashable until ver 5 ..99 (and even then only lachutte can do it)

The problem with using a WRX ECU and harness is the igntion. Your engine is wasted spark. The early WRX is coil on plug with a 4 channel ignitor. And there is no way that I know of to retrofit the independent coils to the SOHC EJ22T heads.

That is going to be the only wiring difference between a USDM EJ22T harness and a WRX harness. And the ECU's are very similar. Stick with the USDM stuff since it is more available. And then get a Perfect Power ECU for additional EM...

I already have the perfect power ECU Matt. But I am running it on the stock ej18 ecu. Sean at Rallitek swore to me it would work. and it does in most cases, however there is a huge deads spot that casues my car to buck if according to my (aftermarket) mapensor reads maximum deflection on the perfect power laptop program. The funny part is that even though I have been a big proponent on here about the PP, they have been deleting my questions and things off of there message board over at rallitek. Even the other day when I was recommending some ideas to a kid on what to do with his Legacy SS, they deleted it. Its ridiculous! I even reccomended the damn PP to the kid.

I really would like to look at some other form of engine management. The Hydra doesnt work with the 22t's crank sensor and cam sensor. THat is what I have been told.

Besides I sold all of my harness to Natoe. Guess I may be in the market again for one.

There's a thread in the NA forum called "Rallitek Chip" I would suggest posting a vent in that thread. Sean reads it, and it is a big source of their sales from NASIOC. If they are being shady about potential problems with the system, our members should know about it. I am contemplating buying one, and this sort of thing makes me wary as a buyer...
