wiring, you leave the 2.5rs harness in place except for the engine controls, second. get everything out of the wrx harness in front of the tv or something except for engine control sensors and stuff. keep your harness nice and clean, keep the wires in a nice bundle, not a spiderweb.
figure on taking 20+ hours to sift through the wrx harness and get all the little stuff out that you dont need. good idea is to have wiring diagrams in front of you as well as connector locations.
wiring is the hardest part if you know your engine runs.
wiring is still hardest part, mechanical problems just take time to figure out, wiring is wires.. of different colors and hundreds of them.
if you can do the mechanical part of the swap, then save some money to get the wiring done at a performance shop because it will be far easier for us and cheaper for you, far cheaper!
had a guy here i am working on cleaning up his wiring mes, I could do the wiring in about 15 hours now, including going through the wrx harness and the 2.5rs harness to get the car running, but it is going to take me double the time to figure out what wires he put where and where other wires disappeared to.
Just a heads up, think it through and if you have any oubts about your ability to do wiring then I will say it now, better safe than sorry, better cheaper than more expensive, etc..
oh BTW: speaker wire is NOT an acceptable choice of wiring in a car unless its used in the sound system!
