View Full Version : How much should I ask for my car?

I've decided that I need to sell my car to pay for the remainder of my education. It's obviously a toss up, but I think this is the right decision. The question is: How much should I ask???

It's a 2002 Silver WRX 5speed Sedan w/ under 45k. Here's my list of major upgrades

VF34 Turbo
BPM top mount intercooler w/ hoses
Utec (tuned)
Perrin Fuel Rail, Walboro Fuel Pump, STI injectors
17x7.5 SSR Comps w/ Parelli P-Zero
Koni Yellow Shocks w/ H&R Sport Springs
Greddy Catback, Perrin Up-Pipe (keeping dp cat)

I have a few other add on's but these are the big ticket item's. My tune is very moderate, compared to those looking for big numbers, but very responsive and driveable. Kelly Blue Book lists it in excellent condition around 17,500. I take very good care of my car. All maintenance has been completed, including colder plugs before I had it tuned (ie fuel filter, gear oil, new coolant, flushed break fluid). I'm looking for some honest feedback and suggestions.

Thanks!
James

Read through the Cars for Sale Classifieds forum and see what similarly modded cars are going for. Bear in mind though, that in the case of a modded car it's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, book value for stock condition doesn't apply. Many people do not want to buy someone else's modded car, and prefer to buy one stock and mod it themselves. You may be best off returning it to stock and selling the mods off separately through the classifieds.

Thanks for the input. I'm aware that the best option is to remove all aftermarket parts and sell separately. Unfortunatley I don't have it all. I've moved too many times, once across the country, so I got rid of anything that wasn't necessary at the time.

Guess I'll just see what I can get.

$17.5K is high for an '02.

Source 3 prices (KBB, NADA, Black Book) and put it on the low side. This is not a premium car.
