So whats the deal? Does this take place next season? The consequences of this could be severe, not really for prorally but for club. If it doesnt apply to clubrally then ignore my trolling.

Ok no one knows what im talking about? Basically its a new SCCA rule saying that your car cant be older then 5 years old. This is a problem because a-Big money sponsorship is out of touch to most people and b-SCCA offers no prize funds which is pretty slack considering theyve been around so long while newer racing leagues are offering $10,000s from sponsors. And yeah, it is for fun, but how many people can afford fun now? I predict many rally cars being used as grocery getters (I was gonna do that anyway, many already are).

that's for pro rally...
more info can be found about this on the Rally-L email list and www.specialstage.com forums...

wont affect club rally at all...

club rally is the 'poor mans' rally.... bah!! is that a joke or what...

it's as expensive as 'ell but i couldnt imagine trying to afford traveling across country doing pro rally stuff!! let alone having to do it in a new car...

I read through most of the rulebook and don't remember anything about this. Since most of the cars running are older than 5yrs I don't think this applies. Maybe you were thinking about roadracing? I remember some BS like that being discussed before. C

Subie Gal- How could that be with Sprongl running an older Audi, and many 1st gen Eclipses running?? I just don't remember hearing/seeing anything about this before.

It's my understanding that if a 5 year rule is ever instituted, it is a bit off. It seems that there will be a similar rule next year (or the year after, I'm not sure) but I think they're starting with like 15 or 20 years. Plus, like Subie Gal says, it's not going to be instituted in Club Rally.

Last time I heard they were talking about a 10 year old cutoff.

it's all hearsay right now (from what i've been reading)
and "may be enforced next year..." blah.. blah...

there's so much gossip right now...

dont take it to heart until it is in the rulebook...

From the most current SCCA FasTrack news, no gossip just plain black and white straight from the horses patoot:):

RE: 2002 Performance Rally Rulebook
The 2001 SCCA Performance Rally
rulebook was a significant re-write... Summarized below are the significant revisions to the 2002 rulebook.

6. Age limits for ProRally cars
entered in SCCA ProRally events:
a. The 20-year rule applies to all
classes except Production, which follows
a 12-year rule, patterned after the suc-cessful
Showroom Stock formula in Club
Racing.
b. Ages for non-dual entered
ClubRally cars are not affected.
c. Historic Class cars will continue to be allowed in SCCA ProRally events.
