It's official! The SCCA has announced thier stock class changes for 2002. Read them here:

http://www.scca.org/news/fastrack/01-10.pdf

WRX goes to D-Stock with ITR, Celica GTS (00+), Audi S4, and Lexus IS300 amoung others...

RS remains in G-Stock with a whole bunch of cars- appears to me though that the RS has a CHANCE to be the car of choice with the ITR, WRX and GTS gone. :D

I agree with the changes- I think the biggest disparity that was addressed with this change was in SS. C4 corvettes going against brand-new Z06's? Yeah, that's fair.

Almost as fair, of course, as WRX's having to contend with WRX-STi's and EVO's hopefully in the future. :)

The base RSX will be in G-Stock also. That's gonna be tough to beat. It's a little quicker and definately more nimble.

some of the neons will also be tough.

Ive yet to see what an RSX is truly capable of in the right hands. At individual events the RS might get stumped but I think overall itll be the car to beat. RS's kick butt in the SC region and SEDIV, the only thing really holding them back were D-class cars like the ITR.

all the neons were moved to GS. those things can be really fast. don't think the RS will have such and easy job ;)

oops- I forgot to look for the Neons- the RS is screwed in that class, especially without race tires. Let this be a lesson to stock RS owners- if you don't have race tires- don't run stock- run STS or Subaru Trunkmonkey Speed class. :p:D:)

any car without race tires has no place in a stock class, espeacially an RS. the car handles much better with a good set of r-compounds under it.

my money is on the neon ACR. i was hoping that was going to go to DS, but i guess not. beyond that, the camaro V6 is still around. don't forget that that was the fastest non-ITR at nationals last year. the probe turbo in the right hands can be quite difficult to beat as well, though certainly not on the same level as the ACR. also, the SE-R is there. sure, that doesn't mean much now, but next year? unless they put the new one in DS, it'll be just like the ITR is back.
