View Full Version : Genuine Italian leather shift boots - custom made for the Legacy!
RedlineGoods.com 11-02-2005, 04:51 PM Hello everyone,
this is Maciek from RedlineGoods.com, a sponsor of NASIOC since recently and the maker of genuine Italian leather shift and brake boots for various cars, now also available for the 05+ and the 95-99 Legacy. A must-have for all those who take pride in their ride!
Has your shift boot seen better days? Your park brake boot been through the wringer? Perhaps you simply want to upgrade your stock vinyl pieces to finer leather? Or maybe you're looking for the finishing touch to your custom interior? Regardless of reasons, RedlineGoods has a solution for you.
Starting with fine, buttery Italian leather, we will hand-craft new boots for your vehicle. Not only is the quality of the material top-notch, but so is the workmanship, featuring such fine details as double top-stitching. The boots are made specifically for your model (their shape is a replica of the stock design), so they fit perfectly without any modification - unlike generic boots sold by others.
You can choose from several colors of leather and thread available. Not to mention two-tone boots, which RedlineGoods will provide at no extra cost! The boots are directly from Europe, and arrive within two weeks from placing an order.
Our products have been discussed here on NASIOC and on other Impreza-related forums and we do get great customer comments all the time.
The price of our products is $60 for a set of boots (where both shift and brake boots are available) or $40 for a single boot (FLAT PRICES - regardless of the colors of leather and stitching you choose), but to put some icing on the cake, here's a 10% discount code - punch it in while ordering and you'll get 10% off immediately! 35W8VKHZ821 The code is valid until November 7th!
Since, as the proverb goes, a picture is worth a 1000 words, in the posts below there are some of them for your enjoyment. Click the pictures to go directly to our Subaru product line page, where you can easily order them with PayPal or using your credit card!
Bottomline:
1) $60 for a set of boots (for some cars the ebrake boot is not available thought) or $40 each item, minus the 10% discount code if you order while the discount code is valid. Shipping is $6 to the US and Canada.
2) You can choose from 16 colors of leather and even more colors of thread (here's our color chart (http://www.redlinegoods.com/clrchart.shtm)). NO EXTRA CHARGE regardless of your color choices.
3) We accept PayPal and all major credit cards (online).
4) We ship within 3 business days, you'll get your order in 2 weeks in total (we're in Europe).
If you have any questions or comments, I'd be happy to hear them!
Take care,
Maciek

I'd be really interested in making those, but I need somebody to send me their stock boot to use as a template. I'll give a free leather shift boot for that. If interested, please email me at maciek@redlinegoods.com
Thank you,

Patrick Olsen 11-02-2005, 07:21 PM I assume that the '95-99 version retains the plasticky loop at the top of the boot that snaps over the stock shift knob? I have a black-with-red-stitching boot made by someone else a few years ago (a limited deal by www.rickS2k.com ) and it's never really fit the shift knob correctly. Kinda frustrating.

subysouth 11-03-2005, 12:44 AM I second Pat's question on fit and add another.
What about those of us running short shiifters that the oem boot is too tall for? Can you make a shorter boot?

Hi Pat,
what we sell is just the leather piece, made as a direct replacement for your stock vinyl one. So you need to re-use all the stock mounting hardware, including the loop at the top of the boot. Which means, it will fit like stock. :)
Thank you,
Maciek

Hi,
definitely. We do NOT charge extra for this either. Please just specify how much of a drop you need, and we'll customize the boot for you.
Thank you,
Maciek
Patrick Olsen 11-07-2005, 04:14 AM So, anyone know how much shorter the STi short shift mechanism lever is? :)

What I found with the boot I have now is that the leather was a bit thicker than the stock fake leather, so I couldn't get the "snap loop" in there and get it to snap onto the bottom of the shift knob. With the thicker leather, the hole that was left in the middle of the snap loop was just too small to snap onto the bottom of the knob.
So, superhawk, I take it since yours is installed that you didn't have any problems with that? Was it a cast iron beeotch to get the boot snapped onto the bottom of the knob, or did it fit like stock?
Thanks,
Pat

The Kartboy short shifter is about 2.5" shorter than stock.

Indeed, the fact that our leather is much thicker than the stock vinyl is an advantage in terms of durability of the product but it causes install difficulties sometimes. You might want to try to grind the leather a bit from the inside with fine grain sandpaper to make it a bit thinner where you need it to be.
Thank you,
Maciek

Wow! I don't think mine is that short. I'll just chop off an inch and hope that's good.

Interesting. Of course, now that I think about it, I don't even have the stock piece, because I've had this other boot for a few years now. I guess I can salvage one from a junked car.

Had no issues with the shift knob I used, it was a stock WRX one and I also test fit the stock LGT knob and it was fine.

Hi everyone!
Some important news and updated regarding the RedlineGoods color selection!
We have added PERFORATED LEATHERS to our color collection recently. Here are some pictures:

Here are some sample pics of the FAUX-ALCANTARA materials available as of today on our site. We offer black, blue, red and beige. The material is not genuine Alcantara/Ultrasuede, which is licensed and very expensive. The material we are using is almost identical in look and feel to the real thing, while remaining reasonably priced.

These new materials are available as a color option on our website for ordering purposes. And here's another discount code for them. Valid until next Sunday (November 20th).

Hi everyone!
I'd like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas, followed by a happy and prosperous New Year. I wish you that all your women (or men, for the girls on here) love you truly and madly and that your cars spend all of next year on the street/track without even going near a garage, that all your drifts are long and controlled and your 1/4mile times get better and better!
There is NO DISCOUNT CODE this time. However, our CHRISTMAS SPECIAL - FREE SHIPPING is still available until December 31st. So, if you're looking for a replacement shift boot, you can get it cheaper if you order this year. :)
Here's our newest offer. Instead of colored stitching, we can stitch in thin panels of other leather into your shift boot. Just see for yourself how nice that is:

There will be a small premium for these, since they imply a LOT more work. Please email us at info@redlinegoods.com if you like this design and would like to get your boots made that way.
Again, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Maciek
