xsmooth69x 11-04-2005, 02:36 AM im going to replace my driving light or fog lamps on my impreza rs and im geting the bracket from cartboy. but anyways which one is better piaa or hella? if any whats a good light from both like, i was just lookin up hella stuff but like is the hella ff1000, hella rally3000, hella 500 like do they all fit? idk what i should get just i guess the brighter the clear and safe to drive on the streets with i guess please help thanks adam
PARANOID56 11-04-2005, 12:01 PM well lets just start off at. its Kartboy, not cartboy :D
i like the hella 500s, and teh FF1000 (the FF1000s being the better light) the piaas are nice, but i feel they are over priced for what they are. and since these ligths take a beating, i wouldnt put uber expensive lights in there.

Hella square?
:D
+10 for hella here. (Hella 500 x 8 and Optilux 1400 x2)
Great quality yet still inexpensive enough that you won't cry if a rock breaks one. Plus it's uber easy to get replacement parts from www.rallylights.com

xsmooth69x 11-07-2005, 05:44 PM bump.........
Yotsuya 11-07-2005, 06:45 PM 500 fogs will work very well with regular H3s. Being metal they can handle big bulbs if you don't use the stock wiring, but there's really no need. As stock they will drown out your headlights on clear days, reducing your distance of vision.
+1 for ruggedness, though I replaced two of mine. They were not too expensive, and it did take some nasty objects to break/crack them.
xsmooth69x 11-08-2005, 04:11 PM so i dont wanna use my stock wiring? what? pleace explain
Psydotek 11-08-2005, 04:58 PM You can use the stock wiring as long as you only use 55w bulbs. As soon as you start using anything higher (next step up is 85w bulbs), you'll want to build a separate wiring harness to handle the increased current draw. If you use 85w bulbs on the OEM wires there's a chance the current draw will be too much for those thin OEM wires, potentially melting them. :)
XENONSVX 11-08-2005, 05:08 PM bump for hella

sorry about that. i didnt see this post and was confused about the pm. yeah that was on my GC8. i had polarg VIP's in the heads...they work really great. they had a nice color to them, and since they had a tinge of yellow, they were also useful in inclement weather. as far as the streetglows, i had an extra set at the time and put them in my 500's.....the wiring could handle it, never had any problems, but the lights cracked from the heat. i went down to stock 55W, and then with my recent obsession with yellow lighting, have since installed 85W yellowstars.

Dutch Scooby lover 11-09-2005, 07:10 PM Hella FF1000, fit almost like the stockers, they are just mounted about an inch more forward then the stockers.
I have a pair wired to the High beams, and cannot believe the differance.
If i knew about the differance i would have done this 3 years ago.
Just a fun comment
Subaru club over here went to Luxemburg, and while i had the least powerfull car, they could not keep up with me at night on the twisties, just because they could not see anything.
