View Full Version : Yellow Fogs Installed - 2005 WRX
Okita Souji 11-04-2005, 04:47 AM I installed these GE Gold H3s about a week ago along with a pair of Phillips Vision Plus H1s in the lowbeams. I picked them up from autolampsonline.com for $16.80 a pair. I was thinking of getting some PIAA ion bulbs, but the price was a bit too steep for a pair of bulbs. The coating on the bulbs is pretty similar to the PIAA ions. Looking at the fogs when they are lit, the color looks whiteish up close but more yellow at a distance. Up close the fogs cast a footlong purpleish hue on the ground like the PIAA ions, but that changes to yellow as the distance gets further from the car.
Here's some pics. Lemme know what you think.

Hank3 11-04-2005, 10:31 AM Those look great Okita. Thanks for sharing the info and pics. Will have to add them to the list of recommended yellow fog bulbs.
Handsdown 11-04-2005, 11:51 AM holy crap, i like the color of those way more than my hella yellowstars.
Yotsuya 11-04-2005, 01:13 PM That doesn't look any different than my yellowstar H3s.
How did you do the install; removing the lights from the front or coming in from behind through the fender liners?
ATX25RS 11-04-2005, 01:30 PM holy crap, i like the color of those way more than my hella yellowstars.
you have the large reflector fogs, correct? those fogs are really hard to focus color with.....i had yellow stars in my gc8 and they looked more green and werent very yellow at all....i have them in my optilux1100's and my hella 500's and they do look more yellow.
those are a very nice color though....almost as cheap as yellowstars also :D

I removed them by dropping the splashguards under them. There's 2 clips I loosened.
Thanks for the feedback guys. :D
Subaru of Plano 11-04-2005, 02:32 PM Nice! We love the look of the JDM big fog conversion and yellow is logical for fogs!

Handsdown 11-04-2005, 04:12 PM no i have very small projector fogs... a lot like the OEM 04 fogs.
ATX25RS 11-04-2005, 04:41 PM oh...yeah i have the yellowstars in my optilux1101's and the color is okay...not spectacular at all.....but in the headlightsm and the hella 500's they look great.
garie 11-04-2005, 08:57 PM narva golds work good for me. a very rich gold/yellow color.
Okita Souji 11-05-2005, 08:39 AM Btw, can you guys post pics of your fogs as well? I'd like to compare the colors. :)
The Deliverator 11-05-2005, 08:56 AM Those look way more yellow than my narva gold fog lights do. And they're cheaper. Guess I know what I'm switching to when the Narva's burn out.
Hank3 11-05-2005, 01:11 PM I'll try to remember and take pics of my PIAA Ion Crystals later on today...
Hank3 11-05-2005, 01:35 PM Got off my my lazy tail and just went ahead and took pics in my garage. Excuse the dryer piping :o

Okita Souji 11-05-2005, 04:18 PM Woah very nice. :D I take it the tape on the walls is a do it yourself alignment guide?
Thanks for the pics.
Hank3 11-05-2005, 04:53 PM Hehe yeah. The blue painter's tape is my guide to keep my headlights aligned properly - although in the pic it doesn't show that. I wasn't lined up to the marks and not that far away from the wall...
Okita Souji 11-06-2005, 07:09 AM Nice. What distance is recommended when aligning headlamps and fogs?

There are a few good guides out there for aiming headlights. 20 - 25 feet is recommended. Check the following link for some good aiming instructions:
