Strange green plug under my dash makes a CEL

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, chillin in my car in the school parking lot this morning, waiting for the doors to open. And, i dont know why, but im fiddling under my dash, to see how much room i have to run wires for my stereo and such....and i find these 3 plug ends, that arent plugged into anything, on the left hand side about half way back under the dash on my 2002 Impreza 2.5RS.....SOOO i plug the green plugs together, cuz its kinda no brainer that they go together....and immediately i can hear a relay clicking away in my glove box on and off every like 2 seconds, and a strange low wirring noise in the cabin, and a kinda clunk in time with the relay in the dash comming from the back right corner. So i start up the car to see if it did anything....and my Check engine light is blinking rapidly........doesnt run any different, and of course it goes back to normal once i shut it off and disconnect the plug again.

SOO i follow the noise in the back of the car, to the outside, and to a large black box located right under the right rear corner of the car, and its making all the noise....WHAT THE HELL IS IT>?????? and why is it doing this. and why is it not connected, or should it even be????? im confused.....

i think that's a fuel system thing(that box)

the green plugs are for diagnostics only and they are NOT supposed to be plugged in. this has been covered many times, you're not the first one.

GREEN plug is for initial transport/shipment of your vehicle

it's unplugged after the car is initially inspected
and is meant to REMAIN that way forever ;)

do not connect green plug ins..... :D

Well actually "GenuineSubparts"

On our European 2 litre turbo cars (gc8 body) you can connect the 2 green plugs together, then turn the key to the setting before the setting u actually crank the car
(off - acc - ??? - crank).

The radiator fans will turn at various speeds and the boost solenoid will open and close.

This way you can clean the solenoid with brake cleaner when some noob mechanic overfills the oil.

Obviously connecting them while the engine is running is a big NONO, but they can be connected for this reason.

Just curious, what does this plug really do?

(hehe, I was one of the persons that posted about a year ago asking what that plug was for... I just got a reply saying not to plug it in........ I never did )

Well, if you have an accessport it's one of the things you need to plug together to do the initial flashing of the ECU....
