yesterday i checked my coolant and it is resistant to frezzeing temp.
the car is 2003 and did not change the coolant before
should i change it before winter or since it is still resistant to freezing temp.
should i let it as it is

Yah I would change the coolant, especially if the coolant has never been changed before.
Some fresh fluids should be good. what mileage is the car?

don't bother. do it no sooner than 30k unless you want to change your coolant ratio or try a cooler t-stat or water-wetter or something. it'll be more expensive/trouble than it's worth (i am going to do it myself this weekend, but only for some of the reasons listed above ;) )

i changed at 30k (after the VF30 swap) and just changed it again at 60k (after the 18g intall and adding a Crucial T-stat)

15k is fine. Change it when you hit 30k as everyone else said. the next time after that should be 60k

What does your owner manual suggest? I think my Forester manual said 30,000 or three years.
