So Thursday night was the first time I have had a chance to run the STi in cool weather at a 1/4 mile track. Here are my times, let me know what you think.
run 1 run 2 run 3 run4
R/T .150 -.046 .018 .218
60ft 1.923 1.806 2.192 1.815
1/8 8.659 8.482 8.981 8.462
mph 81.431 81.533 81.664 81.530
1/4 13.540 13.449 13.822 13.366
mph 100.917 101.109 104.419 102.308

I definately need to work on the launch. The first 2 runs I held it at 4k and floored it at the 2nd light and let it go at 5k, she felt good out of the hole, no bog with a little wheel spin. I bogged the 3rd run bad trying to launch at a little bit lower rpm (held it at 3k, floored it at the 2nd light and let the clutch out fast at about 4k) but still got a good trap out of it. On the 4th I went back to letting it go at 5k. Maybe I should try a 6k launch to see if I could cut a better 60 ft. Any suggestions?

Completely stock STi with 17k miles, cool weather in the high 50s. Was there with a guy driving a 350z with intake/exhaust and he was cutting high 1.8 60fts on street tires, and another guy with a 2k1 Lightning, completely stock, and he was cutting 2.0-2.1 60fts (he was running nittos).

just goes to show good driving. Ive heard lauch at redline and dump it or launch at 5k and throttle it. I launched mine at high rpms and it just felt like i was out of control, so just try whatever feels comfortable to you. What track was this at? Great runs by the way im stage 2 05 and i cant get out of the 13's :( but im a lousy driver

Kinston Dragstrip. It was the weather.. I ran at this same strip a few months ago in 93 degree weather and high humidity and was trapping 93mph. The cool weather just wakes the car right up. My last 3 runs were all done back to back, and the car just kept getting faster.

I think I will next time. I dont think I am going to do the 1/4 mile thing much more though, I feel bad for my 5th gear syncro, I was babying it early on but finally just decided to flat foot it and bang that thing in while ignoring the noise.. Seems to help the trap though, waiting for that shift seems to really screw up my times.
